Interment was in Holy Angels Cemetery. Mr. Phares died Friday, February 13, at Anderson County Hospital. Harold A. Phares was born July 1, 1908, at Oakhill, KS, the son of William Roy and Olive (Shrake) Phares. During his early childhood years, Harold lived in the southeastern Kansas area and graduated from Winfield High School. After school, he began his lifetime career in the newspaper and printing business. His occupation as a printer and typesetter covered several small town publications in this area, including LaCygne, Parker, Colony, and Westphalia. He later was employed by the ‘Garnett Review’ and retired from the Garnett Publishing Company. Harold served his country in the United States Navy during World War II aboard a destroyer in the Pacific Ocean, for which he received an honorable discharge. Harold had lived in Garnett since 1940. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and the Garnett Knights of Columbus. Harold and Olive M. Newcomb were married January 18, 1934, at Greeley, KS. In January of 2004, they celebrated 70 years together. Four sons were born to this union, Phillip, Paul, Jack, and Richard. The family later grew to include 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Sue Hardman, organist. Casketbearers were Rod Phares, Rob Harber, Ernest Wallace, David Ranney, Bill Janke, and George J. Miller. Mr. Phares was preceded in death by his grandson, Stanton Phares, on November 15, 2002; his daughter-in-law, Beverly Phares, on October 25, 2001; and his parents, William Roy and Olive Phares. Harold is survived by his wife, Olive, of the home; his sons, Phillip Phares, Pharump, NV, Paul Phares, Garnett, Jack Phares, Phoenix, AZ; and Rick Phares, Garnett; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A Wake Service was held Monday, February 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In Harold’s memory, the family suggests masses or contributions to the donor’s choice. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” “Arianna Nichole Cormack 2003-2004 Funeral services for Arianna Nichole Cormack, 4 months, Garnett, were Thursday, February 19, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Holy Angels Cemetery. Arianna died Monday, February 16. Arianna Nichole Cormack was born September 28, 2003, at Shawnee Mission, KS. She was the daughter of Annetta Eubanks and Branden Crites, Garnett. They survive, as do Arianna’s grandparents, Ray and Cheri Peine, and James and Betty Crites, all of Garnett, and Albert and Debbie Cormack, Warsaw, MO.
