Interment was in Highland Cemetery, Iola. Mr. Diebolt died Tuesday, February 17, in Vernon County, MO. Michael Darrel Diebolt was born April 20, 1970, at Iola, KS, the son of Don and Susan (Fursman) Diebolt. He had lived in Allen County for all but three years of his life, when the family lived in Wichita. He graduated from Iola High School with the Class of 1988 and worked for Diebolt Lumber and Supply at LaHarpe following his graduation. Mike also worked at Kitchens and More in Iola for nine years. In 1999, he became assistant manager of Diebolt Lumber and Supply. Mike served on the board of directors of the Allen County Animal Rescue Foundation. He has helped teach karate at the Safebase afterschool program. He enjoyed running, riding horses, scuba diving, karate, and flying. He was a member of A.O.P.A. pilot’s association. Mr. Diebolt was preceded in death by his grandmother, Clara Maxine Diebolt; his aunt, Kathryn K. Diebolt; and two step-uncles, John McIntosh and George McIntosh. Mike is survived by his son, Dylan Michael Diebolt, Grain Valley, MO; his daughter, Michaela Charless Diebolt, Grain Valley, MO; his parents, Don and Susan Diebolt, Iola, KS; his close friend, Janalin Renee Hittle, Iola, KS; his grandparents, Lawrence P. and Eva Rachel Diebolt, Iola, KS, and John A. and Florence L. Fursman, Jr., Colony, KS; his sister, Michelle Lynette Diebolt-Smith and her husband, Leon, Iola, KS; his niece, Victoria (Tori) Michelle Smith, Iola, KS; his nephew, Royce Leon Smith, Iola, KS; his step-niece, Morgan Nicole Smith, Iola, KS; two uncles, nine aunts, and many cousins and friends. The family received friends on Friday, February 20, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Animal Rescue Foundation.
