Edgecomb 1909-2004 Funeral services for Mildred M. Edgecomb, 95, Westphalia, KS, were Wednesday, February 25, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Westphalia, with Home Brethren officiating. Interment was in Bethel Cemetery, Westphalia. Mrs. Edgecomb died Sunday, February 22, at her home. Mildred M. Edgecomb was born February 7, 1909, in Douglas County, KS, the daughter of Robert N. and Effa E. (Barnhart) Gish. She grew up in Douglas and Franklin Counties, moving to Anderson County in 1939. Mildred and Claude W. Edgecomb were married December 19, 1929, in Douglas County, KS. The couple moved to Anderson County in 1939, and then to Harris in 1966. She moved to her current residence in 1993. Mrs. Edgecomb was a homemaker and was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Casketbearers were Neil Gascho, Michael Hirt, Dean Shilling, Jordan Eichman, Roger Shilling, and Daniel Gascho. Mrs. Edgecomb was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Edgecomb, in 1986; her son-in-law, Clyde Hirt, in 1975; her grandson, Dennis Heck, in 1973; her parents, Robert N. and Effa E. Gish; her brothers, Wilbur Gish and Nelson Gish; and her sister, Wilma Wagoner. Mildred is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Thelma and Owen Heck, Westphalia, KS, and Anna and John Beeghley, Baldwin City, KS; her sisters, Vida Flory, Baldwin City, KS, and Gladys Filbrun, Harris, KS: her sisters-in-law, Charlene Gish, Cheyenne, WY, and Lois Gish, Lawrence, KS; five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. The family received friends at the Owen Heck residence from 3:00-6:00 p.m. and 7:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24. The family has suggested memorial to Midland Hospice, Ottawa, KS.
