Interment was in Walnut Creek Cemetery, Wellsville, KS. Mrs. McIntosh died Monday, March 15, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa. Grace McIntosh was born November 1, 1914, at Ottawa, the daughter of Willard B. and Susan Lillian (Ruby) Alcorn. She was a lifelong resident of Ottawa, graduating with the Class of 1932 from Ottawa High School. Grace was a member of Richter United Methodist Church, and was a former member of North Baptist Church and Warren Black Post #60, American Legion Auxiliary, both of Ottawa. Grace and Roy Franklin McIntosh were married April 18, 1938, at Ottawa. He preceded her in death on September 25, 1965. Mrs. McIntosh was also preceded in death by her daughter, Verla Arlene McIntosh; her parents, Willard and Susan Alcorn; her sisters, Ellen Hamilton, Alice Daugherty, Evelyn Johnson, Maude Conner, Myrtle Morrison, and Sylvia Moody; and her brother, Bert Alcorn. Grace is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Wilkerson, Pomona, KS; her son, Douglas McIntosh, Richmond, KS; her sister, Irene Lipper, Green Belt, VA; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. The family greeted friends on Wednesday, March 17, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Richter United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home. Gates, 84, Garnett, were Friday, March 19, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mrs. Gates died Tuesday, March 16, at Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care. Doris E. Gates was born November 19, 1919, at Burlington, KS, the daughter of Roy A. and Hazel (Hartman) Tilton. She was a lifetime resident of Anderson County, having graduated from Welda High School. Doris was a member of First Christian Church, Garnett. Doris and John B. Gates were married July 3, 1937, at Burlington, KS. She was a homemaker who raised three children. Mrs. Gates was preceded in death by her husband, John, on December 10, 1992; and her parents, Roy and Hazel Tilton. Doris is survived by her sons, John Edwin Gates and his wife, Patty, Olathe, KS, and Marvin Gates and his wife, Twyla, Lawrence, KS; her daughter, Shirley Kline and her husband, Paul, Garnett; her brother, Ralph Tilton and his wife, Betty, Garnett; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Scott Schulte, vocalist. Musical selections included “On Eagle’s Wings”, “Amazing Grace”, and “Remember When”. Casketbearers were Mark Gates, Jr., Mark Gates, Sr., Tim Kline, Craig McGee, Mick Scheafer, and George Zentner. The family greeted friends on Friday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. before the service.
