Smith 1922-2004 Funeral services for Kathryn A. Smith, 81, Richmond, KS, were Thursday, March 25, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Garnett, with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Richmond Cemetery. Mrs. Smith died Wednesday, March 17, at Yuma, AZ. Kathryn A. Smith was born September 16, 1922, at Linwood, KS, the daughter of Joseph and Hazel (Mitchell) Bryant. She was raised in the Linwood area. She attended Fall Leaf Grade School and Eudora High School. Kathryn moved to California in 1948, living there until moving to Richmond in 1979. In 2002, she moved to Yuma to be near her daughter. She enjoyed fishing and gardening, and was a collector of antiques. Kathryn and Billy L. Smith were married February 12, 1955, at Las Vegas, NV. He preceded her in death on July 9, 2002. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist. Musical selections included ‘The Old Rugged Cross’ and ‘Amazing Grace’. Casketbearers were Gary W. Holmes, Dwyane A. Mason, Frank E. Mason, Larry L. Mason, Gus H. Palmisano, and Bobby D. Smith. Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by her brother, Bill Bryant; her sisters, Maxine Webster, Edna Holler, and Mary Bryant; her grandsons, Andy Holmes and Joe Palmisano; and her parents, Joseph and Hazel Bryant. Kathryn is survived by her sons, Gary Holmes, Edwardsville, KS, Frank Mason, Coeur d’Alene, ID, Larry Mason, Riverside, CA, Dwayne Mason, Anaheim, CA, and Bobby Smith, Marion, KS: her daughters, Barbara Palmisano, Yuma, AZ, and Janis Wilson, West Palm Beach, FL; her brothers, George Bryant and Gene Bryant, both of Long Island, NY, Joe Bryant, Tucson, AZ, Richard Bryant, Lawrence, KS, Robert Bryant, Eudora, KS, and Raymond Bryant, Oskaloosa, KS; her sisters, Evelyn Fairbanks, Burns, KS, and Marie Wilson, Eudora, KS: 19 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. The family greeted friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Thursday prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army. Orpin 1947-2004 A Rosary was said for Robert L. Orpin, 56, Rantoul, KS, on Thursday, March 25, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa, KS, with Father Tod Ziegler officiating, followed by a Memorial Service at 10:30 a.m., and procession to Highland Cemetery for inurnment services. V.F.W. Post #5901, Ottawa, provided Military Honors. Mr. Orpin died Sunday, March 21, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa. Robert L. Orpin was born June 21, 1947, at Manhattan, KS, the son of Robert and Anna Mae (Meier) Orpin. He graduated from Rockhurst High School, Kansas City, MO, with the Class of 1965. He had lived in Rantoul since 1993. He had previously lived in Mission, KS, Prairie Village, KS, and Kansas City, MO. Since 1991, Robert had been the owner and operator of Bob Orpin Plumbing in Mission, KS, serving the Kansas City area. He was formerly operations manager for several Kansas City truck lines. Robert served as a Medic in the United States Army with the 18th Surgical Hospital, 4th Infantry Division, from 1968-1969 during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Robert and Rebecca ‘Becky’ Baldwin were married January 6, 1988, at Miami, OK. Mr. Orpin was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Orpin; his father, Robert Orpin; and his brother, Kenneth Orpin. Robert is survived by his wife, Rebecca, of the home; his daughters, Lori Sutton, Liberty, MO, and Kimberly Orpin, Kansas City, MO; his son, Robert C. Orpin, Kansas City, MO; his stepdaughters, Stephanie Proctor and Jessica Branner, both of Gardner, KS; his stepson, Justin Branner, Olathe, KS: his mother, Anna Mae Orpin, Overland Park, KS; his sisters, Mary Pankey, Merriam, KS, Ann Marie Orpin, Prairie Village, KS, Teresa Hamilton, Stillwell, KS, and Lori Jean Woltering, New Jersey; his brothers, Gregory Orpin, Overland Park, KS, Daniel Orpin, Roeland Park, KS, S. Joseph Orpin, Leawood, KS, and Stephen Orpin, Overland Park, KS; and 11 grandchildren. The family received friends on Tuesday, March 23, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment was in Holy Angels Cemetery. Mr. Callahan died Monday, March 22, at his home. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” “Hazel E. Crouch 1913-2004 Funeral services for Hazel E. Crouch, 90, Garnett, were Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Shrum officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mrs. Crouch died Sunday, March 21, at Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care. Hazel E. Crouch was born August 22, 1913, at Garnett, KS, the daughter of William Riley and LuCinda (Hoops) Stevens. She was a homemaker. Hazel and Louis J. Hermreck were married in 1929 in Garnett. He preceded her in death. She then married Amos Potter in 1949, in Garnett. He preceded her in death. Hazel and Leonard Crouch were married in 1954 at Garnett. This marriage ended in divorce. Leonard survives. Mrs. Crouch was also preceded in death by her sons, Charles Hermreck, Gene H. Hermreck, and Louis J. Hermreck; her daughters, Betty Hermreck and Edith Potter; her grandson, Rick Hermreck; her great-grandson, Brian Hermreck; her parents, William and LuCinda Stevens; and eight brothers and sisters. Hazel is survived by her son, Marvin Hermreck, Liberty, MO; her daughters, Judy Davis and Linda Reed, both of Garnett, and Shirley Crouch, Parson, KS; her daughters-in-law, Kate Hermreck, Garnett, and Lavonne Chase, Centerville, KS; 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Jeanine Zenter, organist, and Scott Schulte, soloist. Musical selections included ‘Oh, Beautiful Mother’, ‘You Are Near’, and ‘We Will Rise Again’. Casketbearers were Bill Dick, Carl Hermreck, Jim Hermreck, John Hermreck, Josh Hermreck, Lee Hermreck, Levi Hermreck, and Randy Hermreck. Honorary casketbearers were Derek Davis, John Ray Davis, Tyler Davis, and Gene H. Hermreck II. The family received friends on Tuesday, March 23, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
