Davis 1936-2004 Graveside interment services for Joanne W. Davis, 67, Woodburn, OR, formerly of Colony, KS, were Thursday, May 13, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at Colony Cemetery. Mrs. Davis died May 10 at Woodburn, OR. Joanne W. Davis was born August 7, 1936, at Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Marion and Ester (Smith) Wheelbarger. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1954, from Bethany Nursing School in Kansas City, KS, in 1957, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Linfield in 1982. She worked at Dammasch State Hospital as a psychiatric nurse from 1960-1997 when she became the nursing staff coordinator at the Oregon State Hospital before retiring in 2000 after 39 years of service in psychiatric care. Joanne was involved in the Woodburn P.T.A., Woodburn Day Care Center, and was active with the public library. She enjoyed gardening and working in the community. She was an avid reader. Joanne and Dr. Larry J. Davis were married in June, 1960, at Honolulu, HI. He preceded her in death in 1995. Mrs. Davis is survived by her son, Jeff Davis, Gresham, OR; and her daughter, Denise Davis, Milwaukie, OR. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 3: “Donald Couture 1922-2004 Memorial services for Donald (Don) Couture, 81, Casa Grande, AZ, formerly of Garnett, will be Monday, June 7, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Garden, Salina, KS. Mr. Couture died April 23, 2004, at Chula Vista Care Center, Mesa, AZ. Donald Couture was born June 27, 1922, in Clyde, KS. He was a truck driver for 30 years. Donald also served in law enforcement and was Anderson County Undersheriff. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, and was a member of V.F.W., American Legion, and Masonic Delphian Lodge #44, of Garnett. He moved from Salina to Casa Grande, AZ, in 1994. Mr. Couture is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rua Jo Couture, Casa Grande, AZ; his daughter, Linda Platt and her husband, Kenny, Ottawa, KS; two grandchildren, Scott Platt, Garnett, and Shelly Barnes, Ottawa, KS; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold Couture, Kansas City, MO.
