Yulich 1927-2004 Funeral services for Lorrain M. Yulich, 76, rural Kincaid, KS, were Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Chapel, Iola, KS, with Rev. Gale Mack officiating. Interment was in Highland Cemetery, Iola. Mrs. Yulich died Friday, May 14, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Shawnee Mission, KS. Lorrain M. Yulich was born July 8, 1927, at Chanute, KS, the daughter of Deane M. and Martha E. (Wilson) Bennett. She moved with her family to Iola and then to Kansas City, where she graduated from Rosedale High School. Lorrain was married to Charles Riley. He was a minister and they pastored in several states before moving to Kansas City. He preceded her in death in 1956. On June 8, 1957, Lorrain married Louis E. Yulich, Jr. and they made their home in Fairway, KS. They owned and operated several home improvement businesses. In 1971, they moved to Kincaid. They owned and operated Modern Exteriors of Emporia and Burlington for 13 years prior to their retirement. He preceded her in death on July 25, 2001. Lorrain had worked at Wal-Mart in Iola for the past seven years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kincaid. Mrs. Yulich was also preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Lou Yulich; her parents, Deane M. and Martha E. Wilson; and an infant brother. Lorrain is survived by her son, Charles Riley and his wife, Julie, Huntsville, AL; her daughters, Martha Elaine Needham, Olathe, KS, Suzanne Royer, Loveland, CO, Cynthia Yulich-Ray and her husband, Tom, Pocahontas, AR, Vivian West and her husband, Rick, Kincaid, and Grace Weinrich and her husband, Steve, Lawrence, KS; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation. Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Chapel was in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 4: "Glenn H. Wharton 1912-2004 Funeral services for Glenn H. Wharton, 91, Richmond, KS, were Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Garnett, with Pastor Ethan Sayler officiating. Interment was in Richmond Cemetery. Mr. Wharton died Sunday, May 16, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, MO, as the result of injuries sustained in a car accident on April 5, 2004. Glenn H. Wharton was born September 7, 1912, at Darlington, MO, the son of Thomas G. and Jennie Pearl (Wallace) Wharton. He was raised in Missouri, attended school there, and moved to Kansas with his family in 1921. They lived in the Kincaid area before moving to the Richmond area in 1939. In 1944, the family bought the farm where Glenn still lived. He was a truck driver for 10 years, a stonemason, and a general construction worker. In 1950, he moved to the farm, and farmed and raised livestock, in addition to working at Anderson County Sales Barn from 1960 to 1990. Glenn and Evelyn Olson were married in 1956 at Paola, KS. She preceded him in death in May 1971. Mr. Wharton was also preceded in death by his parents, Thomas G. and Jennie Pearl Wharton; and his brother, Olen Wharton, in 1997. Glenn is survived by his sons, David Wharton and his wife, Christina, Richmond, and Terry Wharton and his wife, Mary, Tumbling Shoals, AR; his daughters, Donna Baker, Princeton, KS, and Debbie Phillips and her husband, Kevin, Augusta, KS; his brother, Vernon Wharton and his wife, Mary, Pensacola, FL; his 16 grandchildren, Landon and Nick Fredricks, Bryronni, Ben, and Bailey Baker, Jennifer Cox, Stephanie and Kristi Bennett, Jesse Wharton, April Bartlett, Angie Armstrong, Thomas Wharton, and Cody, Casey, Courtney, and Carley Phillips; his seven great-grandchildren, D'anthony and Mia Fredricks, Abby Cook, Landon Bennett, and Joseph, Dillon, and Autumn Armstrong; and two nieces, Jane Byrd and Janet Wharton. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Cathy Parsons, soloist. Musical selections included 'In The Garden' and 'Amazing Grace'. Casketbearers were Charlie Feuerborn, Tom Johnson, Jeff Olson, Joe Olson, Kenny Teter, and Gene Vining. The family greeted friends on Tuesday, May 18, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Richmond Senior Citizens Lunch Program. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements."
