Koehler 1924-2004 Funeral Mass for Dorothea F. Koehler, 80, Grayslake, IL, was Monday, June 7, 2004, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Gilbert Catholic Church, Grayslake, IL. Interment was in Avon Centre Cemetery. Mrs. Koehler died Thursday, June 3, at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL. Dorothea F. Koehler was born May 19, 1924, at Garnett, the daughter of Thomas and Anna (Sobba) Teter. She was a 50-year member of, and very active at, St. Gilbert Catholic Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, and the Leisure Club. She also delivered meals on wheels for Catholic Charities. Mrs. Koehler was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Koehler, in 1992; her parents, Thomas and Anna Teter; her sisters, Betty Hiestand and Velva Hermreck; and her brother, Larry Teter. Dorothea is survived by her six children, Tom Koehler, Milwaukee, WI, Terry Koehler, Woodstock, IL, Linda Brooks, St. Charles, IL, Jane Koehler, Round Lake Heights, IL, Beth O’Connor, Lombard, IL, and Dennis Koehler and his wife, Rachel, Toledo, OH; her seven grandchildren, Danielle, Matthew, Randy, Michael, Mathias, Megan, and Adam; her two great-grandchildren, Angel and Rebecca; her dear friends, the Koch Family, Burlintgon, WI; her sisters, Phyllis Callahan, Garnett, Nadine Poss and her husband, Don, Richmond, KS, and Mavis Horner and her husband, Jerry, Wichita, KS; and her brothers, Tom Teter and his wife, Donna, Laport, IN, and Norman Teter and his wife, Betty, Chico, CA. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Strang Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, Grayslake, IL, was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 3: “Donald Newton Bailey 1911-2004 Funeral services for Donald Newton Bailey, 85, Topeka, KS, formerly of Welda, KS, were Friday, June 11, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Garnett, with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Welda Cemetery. Garnett V.F.W. Post #6397 and American Legion Post #38 provided the Military Honor Guard. Mr. Bailey died Monday, June 7, at Topeka, KS. Donald Newton Bailey was born July 30, 1918, at Garnett, the son of Avery and Zella (Newton) Bailey. He grew up in Welda, graduating from Welda High School in 1938. He served with the United States Army during World War II in North Africa and Italy. Mr. Bailey was a farmer/stockman. Don and Jane Louise Melville were married on January 9, 1943, at Colony, KS. To this union, two daughters were born. She preceded him in death on June 30, 1969. Don and Shirley Showalter were married on December 31, 1970. Mr. Bailey was also preceded in death by his parents, Avery and Zella Bailey; his brother, Joe Bailey, Sr.; and his sisters, Gertrude Edwards and Pauline Benjamin. Don is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; his daughters, Kathryn Allen, Topeka, KS, and Carolyn Minsch, Sacramento, CA; his stepdaughters, Linda Lewis, Lawrence, KS, and Kathy Jane Norton, Estes Park, CO; his stepsons, Nelson Showalter, Burlington, IA, and Ronald Showalter, Ottawa, KS; two grandsons, Scott Allen, Lawrence, KS, and Steve Allen, Pittsburg, KS; two great-grandchildren, Avery Allen and Kathryn Allen; 11 step-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Earl Rocker, vocalist. Musical selections included “Amazing Grace”, “I Believe”, and “Peace In The Valley”. Casketbearers were Dennis Allen, Ed Bailey, Joe Bailey, Claron Benjamin, Dale Hubler, and Clyde Parks. The family greeted friends on Thursday, June 10, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
