Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Glenloch, KS. Mrs. Hermreck died Wednesday, August 4, near Moran in a single car accident in which her mother, Norma Baughn was also killed. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” “Vera Opal Hartman 1920-2004 Funeral services for Vera Opal Hartman, 84, Kincaid, were Saturday, August 7, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at the Kincaid-Selma United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Sue Wiliford officiating. Interment was in Kincaid Cemetery. Mrs. Hartman died Wednesday, August 4, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe. Vera Opal Hartman was born April 1, 1920, at Garnett, the daughter of Albert L. and Nettie M. (Maley) Denman. She was raised and attended public school in the Garnett area. She later attended Colony High School. Vera and Harold Franklin Hartman were married January 19, 1937, at Yates Center. They owned and operated the Blue Mound Café for three years. Then they purchased and operated the Xenia Store in Xenia, KS, from 1962 to 1990. She was a member of the Best-Yet Club, Christian Ladies Association, and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for years. She also sold quilts with her church organization. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cooking. Vera was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Mrs. Hartman was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, in February, 2000; her daughter Glenda Mae Hartman; her parents, Albert and Nettie Denman; her sister, Beulah Denman; and three brothers, R. Lewis Denman, Albert Lloyd “Bud” Denman, and Charles Everitt Denman. Vera is survived by her five sons, Vernie Hartman of Iola, Claron Hartman and his wife Laura of Kincaid, Marvin Hartman and his wife Nancy of Blue Mound, Larry Hartman and his wife Virginia of Bronson, and Gary Hartman of Blue Mound; her three daughters, Louise Watts of Butler, MO, Betty Poff and her husband Bob of Hiawatha, and Linda Hartman of Topeka; 22 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Clarence O. Denman of Mesa, AZ. The family received friends on Friday, August 6, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Moran Chapel. Memorials in her name may be made to the Kincaid Fair. Interment was in Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Larkin died Tuesday, August 3, at Richmond Care Center, Richmond. Mary VanDilla Wollam Larkin was born August 29, 1914, at Sedan, KS, the daughter of Monte David and Pearl (Palmer) Holston. She grew up and lived in Sedan until after graduating from Sedan High School in 1932, moving to Topeka at that time, and then to Ottawa in 1935. Mary worked as a waitress at the North American Hotel Royal Café, and Colbern’s Restaurant. She managed the Village Inn Motel for 20 years and cleaned rooms at the Hallmark Inn until retiring at the age of 83. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Warren Black Post #60 American Legion Auxiliary, Aerie Lodge #2700 Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, and Ottawa Lodge #803 Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, all of Ottawa. Mary was united in marriage with Joseph St. Clair Wollam. They were later divorced. Mrs. Larkin was preceded in death by her daughters, Mary Jo Hanes and Helena Mae-Ann Kloog; her infant son, Monte Wollam; her parents, Monte David and Pearl Holston; and her brothers, Clair Holston and Loyce Holston. Mary is survived by her daughter, Dixie-Lou Thompson Passardi of Williamstown, MA; her son Kenneth Holston of Phoenix, AZ; her grandchildren, Steve Hanes, Bret Thompson, Chad Thompson, Rick Kloog, Shawn Kloog, Mike Kloog, Andrea Jo Hanes, Kim Kiser, and Tracey Kloog; and her great-grandchildren, Taylor Gaines, Coral Thompson, Carlie Kiser, Dallas Kiser, Zane Kiser, Railey Mae-Ann Cole, Corey Burgoon, Chase Thompson, Shane Kloog, and Kandra Kloog.
