Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mrs. Baird died Wednesday, September 15, at Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett. Bertha Baird was born February 24, 1912, the daughter of Henry and Elma (Sawyer) Herrill. She attended Judy School and Garnett High School. Bertha worked as a dietician at Anderson County Hospital for several years. Later, she worked in the kitchen at Hamilton Stores in Yellowstone National Park. She was a member of First Christian Church, Garnett. She was a loving mother, enjoyed her grandchildren, and taught them all to fish. Bertha and Ralph L. “Jack” Adams were married March 15, 1930, at Cherryvale, KS. This union was blessed with three children. Ralph preceded her in death in July, 1981. She married Charles Baird in 1985 and he preceded her in death in 1987. Mrs. Baird was also preceded in death by her sons, Ralph Glen Adams and his wife Sharon on October 24, 1989, and Allison Darrow Adams on March 28, 2001; her brothers, Henry Herrill, Jr., Maurice Herrill, and John Calvin Herrill; her sisters, Lucky Black, Frances Martin, Doris Bradford, Lois Logan, and three infant sisters. Bertha is survived by her daughter, Freida and husband Danny “Sam” Hiestand of Shawnee Mission; her sister, Eva and husband Bill Thompson of Ottawa; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Laura Parks, organist, and Richard Parks, soloist. Musical selections included “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace”. Casketbearers were Bertha’s grandsons, Dale Adams, Leonard Hiestand, Roger Hiestand, Mike Adams, Todd Adams, Tom Adams, Scott Adams, and Kelly Adams. Honorary casketbearer was Tarry Miller. The family received friends on Sunday, September 19, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Midland Hospice. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 2: “Luke Calvin Tindill 2001-2004 Funeral services for Luke Calvin Tindill, 3, Ottawa, were Thursday, September 16, 2004, at Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa, and Pastor Duane Pedrow, Princeton Christian Church, officiating. Interment was in Princeton Cemetery. Luke died Tuesday, September 14, at his home. Luke Calvin Tindill was born August 22, 2001, the son of Kimberly Dawn (Gragg) Comstock. He was a lifelong Ottawa resident and was a member of Princeton Christian Church. Luke is survived by his mother, Kimberly Dawn Comstock of the home; his stepfather, Brad Comstock of Princeton; his sister, Dawn Nicole Comstock of the home; his grandmothers, Debbie Gragg of Ottawa, and Elaine Gall of Holt, MO; his stepgrandparents, Lonnie and Sylvia Comstock of Waverly; his great-grandparents, Calvin and Dorothy Shaffer of Ottawa; and his aunts and uncle, Buffy and Ken Thompson, Carrie Berry, Kandice Gragg, and Janie Raymond. The family greeted friends on Wednesday, September 15, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial may be made to the Luke Calvin Tindill Memorial Fund.
