Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mr. Rockers died Tuesday, September 21, at his home. Alfred Eldon Rockers was born July 2, 1928, in Anderson County, the son of Frederick A. and Theckla C. (Lickteig) Rockers. He graduated from Richmond High School and attended one year at Kansas State University. Alfred was a member of The Board of Directors for the Bank of Greeley since 1959, and has served as Chairman of the Board since 1965. He was the treasurer for the Town and Country Club of Greeley, a former Anderson County Hospital Board Member, and served as a member of the Anderson County Zoning and Planning Board. He also coached Summer baseball for several years. Alfred served in the Kansas National Guard. Alfred and Lorene M. Miller were married November 20, 1948, at Greeley. She preceded him in death on December 10, 1995. Mr. Rockers was also preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Theckla Rockers; and his brother, Charles F. Rockers. Alfred is survived by his sons, Mike Rockers and his wife Nancy, Pat Rockers and his wife Connie, and Doug Rockers and his wife Lori, all of Greeley; his daughter, Diane Fyock of DeSoto; his brothers, Donald Rockers of Perry, IA, Larry Rockers of Lawrence, and Raymond Rockers of Paola; his sisters, Vera Pysher of Denver, CO, and Ethel Weber of Lakewood, CO; and his grandchildren, Troy Rockers, Todd Foltz, Sennett Rockers, Westin Rockers, Tyler Rockers, Paige Rockers, Bailey Rockers, and Brady Rockers. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Scott Schulte, vocalist. Musical selections included “The Lord’s Paryer”, “Hymn of Promise”, and “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”. Casketbearers were Joe Donohue, Charlie Hughes, Herman Loepp, Steve Rockers, Louis Riebe, and Gary Spencer. Honorary casketbearers were Harold Miller, Joe Peine, and Carroll Peterson. The family greeted friends on Wednesday, September 22, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Greeley Youth Ball Program. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 2: “Loy Dean Knight 1934-2004 Funeral services for Loy Dean Knight, 70, Princeton, were Monday, September 27, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa, with Rev. Ira DeSpain and Rev. Georgia Hale officiating. Interment with military services by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901 was at Princeton Cemetery. Loy Dean Knight was born April 8, 1934, at Fort Scott, the son of Seth Robert and Rubie Mae (Guffey) Knight. He was a lifelong Franklin County resident and graduated from Prince High School with the Class of 1953. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1956 and retired in 1974 as a Technical Sergeant after 20 years of service in his field as a medical service technician for air rescue and air evacuation. He served one tour of duty in Thailand and Vietnam, and was in 21 countries. Following his military career, Loy Dean was a propane/gas delivery driver for Bob’s Mobile and Propane, also known as Knight Oil Company, from 1974-1992. He also worked for Duke Manufacturing in Ottawa for three years. Loy Dean was a member of Princeton United Methodist Church and the P.Q.S. Coffee Brunch. He was also a member of Night Crawlers Camping Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901, and Vietnam Veterans Association #912. Loy Dean and Clarice Belle Oswald were married June 27, 1954, at Princeton United Methodist Church. They celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. Mr. Knight was preceded in death by his parents, Seth Robert and Rubie Mae Knight; his sister, Hazel Marie Gildea; and an infant brother, Marion Dale Knight. Loy Dean is survived by his wife, Clarice, of the home; his daughters, Debra Kay Stephenson of Scranton, Nancy Ann Woolery of Princeton, Cynthia Mae Medlen of Rantoul, and Donna Lou Mathena-Menka of Independence, MO; his brother, Robert Eugene Knight of Princeton; his sister, Marcia Kay Knight of Indianapolis, IN; and his grandchildren, Brett Anthony Woolery, Kurtis Ryan Woolery, Christopher Scott Wollery, Kristi Daneen Medlen O’Dell, Ryan Dean Medlen, Johnna Michelle Mathena, Brittany Rennee Stephenson, and Lakyn Marie Stephenson. The family met with friends on Sunday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Princeton United Methodist Church of Vietnam Veterans Association #912. Mrs. Carey died Wednesday, September 22, at Richmond Care Center, Richmond. Mildred P. Carey was born September 11, 1923, at Ottawa, the daughter of Clifford T. and Odessa (Dial) Carey. She was a lifelong Franklin County resident and attended Star School in Franklin County. Mildred assisted her parents on the family farm. She was a member of Richmond United Methodist Church. Miss Carey was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Odessa Carey. Mildred is survived by her sister, Dorothy Cooper of Richmond; her brother, Thomas “Tom” Carey of Lansing; and several nieces and nephews.
