Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Welda Cemetery. Mr. Boots died Sunday, October 24, at his home. Clyde Boots was born November 21, 1929, at Westphalia, the son of Jesse Jacob and Pearl Mae (Young) Boots. He attended Cherry Mound School and graduated from Garnett High School with the Class of 1947. He sponsored baseball teams and Pop Warner football at Colony. He also helped many teenagers earn money through hauling hay in the summertime. He loved to tell jokes, and to be around family and grandchildren. Mr. Boots served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1953. He left the Air Force early, due to the death of a brother-in-law, to help farm. He was a farmer and a cattleman. Clyde clerked many auctions and sales for Ratliff and Ratliff. He was a member of the Welda School Board, Water District #5, and American Legion Post #6397. Clyde and Donna Joan Koch were married July 27, 1950, at Huntsville, AR. To this union, three sons were born. Mr. Boots was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Boots on August 8, 1979; his parents, Jesse and Pearl Boots; and his sisters, Emma Westergren and Addeene Webber. Clyde is survived by his wife, Joan of the home; his sons, Stan Boots of Welda, and Brad Boots and his wife Cindy of Colony; his sister, Erma King of El Dorado; his grandchildren, Justin Boots, Waylon Boots, Evan Boots, and Michelle Boots; and his great-grandchildren, Hunter and Lexie. Music was provided by Lloyd Houk, organist, and Scott Schulte, vocalist. Musical selections included “One Day At A Time” and “Amazing Grace”. Casketbearers were Garry Decker, Clyde Parks, Bill Pracht, John Rook, Jim Smith, and Ron Walter. Honorary casketbearers were Ralph Babcock, Gene Blakesly, Orville Cole, Clyde Durst, and Charlie Hardesty. Memorials may be made to Welda United Methodist Church, Colony United Methodist Church, or American Cancer Society. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 2: “Wade Andrew Miller 2003-1004 Funeral services for Wade Andrew Miller, 16 months were Saturday, October 23, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at Old Germany Baptist Brethren Church, Westphalia, with Glenn Bauman, David Hirt, Denton Flory, and Joseph Bauman officiating. Interment was in Bethel Cemetery, Westphalia. Wade died Tuesday, October 19, at Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, MO. Wade Andrew Miller was born May 27, 2003, at Ottawa, the son of Allen D. and Amy Y. (Bower) Miller. At three months, he developed skin rashes, which did not respond to normal treatments. On March 1, 2004, Wade was diagnosed with Langerhan’s Cell Histiocytosis. He received four types of chemotherapy, which did little to slow the spreading disease. On October 1, he was again admitted to Children’s Mercy Hospital as a very sick little boy. He was in need of a liver transplant due to liver failure, but with his disease still very active and being so sick, a transplant would have been of no benefit to him. Wade was kept as comfortable as possible by many caring nurses until he peacefully left this earth and was carried by the angels to heaven in the late evening hours. Wade is survived by his parents, Allen and Amy Miller; his brothers, Blake Miller and Grant Miller, of the home; his grandparents, Dale and Sharon Miller of Garnett, and Danny and Connie Bower of Camden, OH; and his great-grandparents, Melvin and Fern Miller of Westphalia, Orvis “Pete” Kunkel of Waverly, Lester and Dorothy Bower of West Alex, OH, and Richard Garber, also of West Alex, OH; uncles, aunts, cousins, and many friends. Casketbearers were Arlen Bower, Mike Flora, Scott Moser, and John Miller. The family greeted friends on Friday, October 22, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 3: “Waneta May Minkler 1915-2004 Funeral services for Waneta Mae Minkler, 89, Topeka, were Wednesday, October 27, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. at Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Interment was in Princeton Cemetery, Princeton. Mrs. Minkler died Sunday, October 24, at Rolling Hills Nursing Facility, Topeka. Waneta May Minkler was born October 3, 1915, at Kincaid, the daughter of James LaMont “Mont” and Bessie Blanch (Maley) Hicks. She grew up and lived in Kincaid, graduating from Kincaid High School with the Class of 1935. Waneta and Eldon E. Minkler were married October 3, 1936, at Iola. Soon after their marriage, they lived a short time in Smith County, KS, before moving in April, 1937, to the plains of Colorado, east of Colorado Springs, where they lived almost 40 years. In 1972, they left the farm to live in Florence, CO, until moving in November, 1975, to the Richter Community, west of Ottawa. In 2002, they sold their farm and moved to Topeka. Waneta was a homemaker, and was a member of the H.O.A. Club in Colorado. Mrs. Minkler was preceded in death by her parents, James and Bessie Hicks; two sisters and three brothers. Waneta is survived by her husband, Eldon Ernest Minkler of Topeka; her sons, Eldon “Leon” Minkler of Denver, CO, and Larry Eugene Minkler of Pueblo, CO; her sisters, Betty Walker and Bernice Coe, both of Topeka; her brother, Vernie Hicks of Waco, TX; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family greeted friends on Tuesday, October 26, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Heart of America Hospice.
