Agnew 1917-2004 John W. Agnew, 87, Kansas City, MO, died Sunday, October 3, 2004, at his home. John was born September 17, 1917, at Westphalia, the son of John and Mae Agnew. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as an over-the-road truck driver for Belger-Cartage for 33 years. He was of the Catholic faith. On December 13, 1941, John and Helen F. Ulses were married. Mr. Agnew was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mae Agnew; two sisters and one brother. John is survived by his wife, Helen, of the home; his daughter, Patricia Taliferro and her husband, Rick, of Ft. Myers, FL; his granddaughter, Pam White and her husband, John; two great-grandchildren, Catherine and Scott White; his sister, Catherine Williams; and his brother, Matt Agnew. Mass of Christian Burial was Thursday, October 7, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church, Kansas City, MO. Entombment was at Forest Hill Mausoleum. Muehlebach Funeral Home, Kansas City, MO, was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 2: “Edith Josephine Schnoke 1915-2004 Funeral services for Edith Josephine Schnoke, 89, Olathe, were Wednesday, November 3, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at Dengel and Son Mortuary with Rev. Henry Roberts, Jr., officiating. Interment was in Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Mrs. Schnoke died Saturday, October 30, at her home. Edith Josephine Schnoke was born August 1, 1915, at Garnett, the daughter of Henry and Ella (Hercules) Citron. She graduated from Garnett High School. Edith was a near lifelong resident of Ottawa, moving there in 1940 from the Garnett area. In 1997, she moved to Olathe. She worked as Deputy Register of Deeds for Franklin County, retiring in 1984. She also worked at Ogg’s Market in Ottawa as a cashier for many years. Edith was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Sarah Circle of the church, and O.K. Extension Homemakers Unit, and T.O.P.S. She was an inactive member of Beta Sigma Phi, and was a charter member of Tot to Teen Club, all of Ottawa. Edith and Eldon F. “Buss” Schnoke were married September 2, 1942, at Lawrence. He preceded her in death on August 6, 1996. Mrs. Schnoke was also preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ella Citron; her son, Robert Harley Schnoke; her great-grandson, Chet Fredricks; her sisters, Leona Sparfka, Myrtle Citron, Anna Leta Crawford, and Carrie Mae Roeckers; and her brothers, Oscar Citron, Charles Citron, and John Citron. Edith is survived by her son, Frederick “Fred” Eldon Schnoke of Wellsville; her daughter, Penny K. (Schnoke) Olson of Olathe; her granddaughters, Brenda Fredricks of Williamsburg and Rochelle Brigham of Olathe; her grandsons, Ryan F. Schnoke of San Antonio, TX, and Matthew Bryce Olson of Redding, CA; her step-grandsons, Jerry Tyson of Bedford, TX, and Dan Tyson of Pittsburg; her great-grandson, Cole Fredricks of Williamsburg; her great-granddaughters, Jill Fredricks of Williamsburg and Jessica Schnoke of Papillion, NE; and her great-great-granddaughters, Hayley Fredricks and Mariah Fredricks. The family met with friends on Tuesday, November 2, from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church or St. Luke’s Hospice. Dengel and Son Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 3: “Richard Allen Brooks 1913-2004 Funeral services for Richard Brooks, 91, Garnett, were Tuesday, November 2, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel in Colony with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Colony Cemetery. Mr. Brooks died Thursday, October 28, at his home. Richard Allen Brooks was born October 23, 1913, near Colony, the youngest son of Allison and Georgia (Booth) Brooks. He served three years in the United States Air Force during World War II in the European Theatre. He worked for the Walter S. Feese Oil Company and Producer’s Pipe Line for 30 years. His main hobby was raising honeybees, which he enjoyed for 53 years. Richard also found enjoyment in hunting and fishing. Richard and Iola Williams were married on March 18, 1938, in Iola. She preceded him in death on March 5, 2000. Mr. Brooks was also preceded in death by his parents; Allison and Georgia Brooks; five brothers; two sisters; and twin daughter and son who died in infancy. Richard is survived by his son, Dale Brooks of Welda; his grandchildren, Allison Chambers and her husband, Chad, of De Soto, Eric Brooks of Garnett, and Jason Brooks of Welda; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Music was provided by Evelyn Bunnel, organist, and Kloma Buckle, vocalist. Music selections included “Old Rugged Cross” and “Nearer My God To Thee”. Casketbearers were Billy Jack Brooks, Chad Chambers, Bill Hurley, Kenny Renyer, Roger Scheckel, and Charles Stanley. Richard will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family always came first, and he spent many enjoyable hours with them.
