Gary Benjamin officiating. Inurnment will be in Garnett Cemetery following cremation at a later date. Mr. Fritz died Thursday, October 28, at Anderson County Hospital. Scott Fritz was born August 31, 1965, at Santa Ana, CA, the son of Frank Leroy and Sharon (Elliott) Fritz. He grew up in Garnett, moving to Weston, MO, in 1979, where he graduated from Weston High School in 1983. He lived in Dallas, TX, from 1984-1994, moving back to Kansas City at that time. He has lived in Garnett since 2003. Scott was a member of Garnett Country Club and enjoyed all athletics. He was a KU Jayhawk fan. He loved and was loved by his nieces and nephews. Mr. Fritz was preceded in death by his father, Frank Leroy Fritz on March 6, 2003; and his brother, Kary Fritz, on March 18, 1997. Scott is survived by his mother, Sharon Fritz of Garnett; his brother, Wesley Fritz and his wife, Christine, of Garnett; and his friend, Janet Wuerflein of Garnett. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Scott Schulte, vocalist. Musical selections included “The Dance”, “Precious Lord”, “Take My Hand”, “Amazing Grace”, and “Only God Knows Why”. Honorary casketbearers were Eric Young, David Searcy, Danny Searcy, Brad Landgraff, Anthony Scott, and Duane Gust. The family greeted friends on Friday, October 29, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” “Jessie M. Brown Jessie M. (Stephens) Brown, 69, retired Boeing production control analyst, died Thursday, October 21, 2004. Funeral services were Tuesday, October 26, at Clearwater United Methodist Church, Clearwater, KS. Graveside services were at 3:00 p.m. at Kincaid Cemetery. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Pauline Stephens; and her son, William Stephen Brown. Jessie is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Brown; her daughter and son-in-law, Jacklyn and Michael Strickland of Clearwater; her brother, Wesley C. Hill 1922-2004 Services for Geraldine M. “Jerry” Hill, 82, St. Paul, were Monday, October 25, 2004, at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul with Rev. Daniel Vacca officiating in St. Francis Cemetery. Cremation has taken place. Mrs. Hill died Saturday, October 23, at 8:35 a.m. at Retirement Village in St. Paul. Geraldine M. Hill was born August 28, 2004, at St. Paul, the daughter of Jake and Bertha (Jennings) VanLeeuwen. She grew up and attended Lone Elm School, and graduated from St. Paul High School. Geraldine and Eric B. Hill were married November 8, 1952, at Tulsa, OK. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1986. While living in Tulsa, she worked for Otis Elevator. In 1971, she returned to St. Paul where she worked as a cook at the former Living Skills Center. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and it’s Altar Society. She enjoyed quilting. Mrs. Hill was also preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Bertha VanLeeuwen; her brothers, Roger and Ted VanLeeuwen; and her sisters, Gertrude Forbes and Cleo Jacquinot. Geraldine is survived by her son, Guy Hill and his wife, Sharon, of Wichita; her daughter, Barbara Carter of Belton, MO; her grandchildren, Tyler and Brice Hill, and Jason, Erica, and Leslie Carter; her brother, Harry VanLeeuwen of Arma; and her sisters, Sister Rosina VanLeeuwen of Wichita, Jeannie LaForge of Parsons, Jeanette Wolken of Greeley, and Judy Fager of Eric. Bowling, 57, Ottawa, were Friday, October 29, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at Ottawa University with Father Tod Ziegler officiating. Interment was in Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, with military services by Whiteman Air Force Base. Mr. Bowling died Sunday, October 24, at his home. Rex A. Bowling was born January 23, 1947, at Ottawa, the son of Norman Glenn and Shirley J. (Sellers) Bowling. He was a lifelong Ottawa resident, graduating from Ottawa High School with the Class of 1965. He also received training through the Kansas Sheriff’s Association. Rex worked in law enforcement for 30 years, serving seven terms, 25 years, as Franklin County Sheriff. He retired as Sheriff on January 1, 2001, and began work as an Assistant Funeral Director for Dengel and Son Mortuary in Ottawa. He served in the United States Air Force as an air traffic controller from October 28, 1965, to July 4, 1969, attaining the rank of Sergeant. His tour of duty included serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Ottawa. Rex and Mary Beth Santarpia were married April 17, 1971, at Ottawa. Mr. Bowling was preceded in death by his grandmother, Viola Bowling; his grandparents, Narva and Emma Sellers; and his father-in-law, George Santarpia. Rex is survived by his wife, Mary Beth, of the home; his sons, Blaine Bowling and Ryan Bowling, both of Ottawa; his parents, Norman Glenn and Shirley J. Bowling of Ottawa; his brothers, Charles N. Bowling and Gary L. Bowling, both of Ottawa; his brother-in-law, Craig Santarpia of Bossler, LA; his sister-in-law, Carol Ann Lantis of Ottawa; and his mother-in-law, Lela Mae Santarpia of Ottawa. A rosary was said at Sacred Heart Church on Thursday, October 28, at 7:00 p.m., followed by a family visitation. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church or B. Martin Peck Animal Shelter.
