Hesse 1934-2004 Mass of Christian Burial for Bernard C. Hesse, 69, Greeley, KS, was Monday, February 2, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, Greeley, with Father George Matz officiating. Interment was in St. John’s Cemetery. Mr. Hesse died Thursday, January 29, at his home. Bernard C. Hesse was born April 14, 1934, at St. Marys, KS, the son of Conrad and Edith Grace (Brunin) Hesse. He was raised in St. Marys, moving to Greeley in 1964. He served in the United States Army. He worked construction for many years before working for Taylor Forge in Greeley, retiring in 1999. Bernard was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Bernard and Kathryn Joan Gehr were married April 28, 1962, at Topeka, KS. Music was provided by Laura Parks, organist. Casketbearers were Casey Brown, Allen Hesse, John Hesse, Tim Katzer, Dustin O’Connor, and Owen Paxton. Mr. Hesse was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn, on December 21, 1997; his son, Brent Hesse, on August 14, 2003; and his parents, Conrad and Edith Hesse. Bernard is survived by his sons, John Hesse and his wife, Sarah, and Allen Hesse, both of Greeley; his daughters, Julie Katzer and her husband, Tim, Garnett, Carla O’Connor, Ottawa, Ks, Jennie Brown and her husband, Casey, and Jill Hesse, both of Greeley; his brothers, Conrad Hesse and Francis Hesse, Bernard’s twin, both of St. Marys, KS; his sisters, Inez Norwood, Grand Junction, CO, and Stella Tyler, St. Marys, KS; and 11 grandchildren. A Rosary was said Sunday, February 1, at 6:00 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church with the family receiving friends afterwards. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Holy Angels Cemetery. Mrs. Boots died Thursday, January 29, at Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care. Dorothy Marie Boots was born October 16, 1904, at Scipio, KS, the daughter of Fred and Thresa (Brummel) Litsch. She was a lifetime resident of Anderson County and was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. Dora and Henry King were married January 10, 1927. He preceded her in death. Dora married John Moore on May 3, 1952. After his death, she married Claude Boots on July 7, 1976. He also preceded her in death. Casketbearers were Fred Litsch, Bob Boots, Leonard Benjamin, Maurice Horner, Brooks Berggren, and Ron Sears. Mrs. Boots was also preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Thresa Litsch. Dora is survived by her brothers, Fred Litsch, Garnett, and LeRoy Litsch, Osawatomie, KS.
