Gary Benjamin officiating. Lectors were Melissa Hatfield and Tish Clevenger. Eucharistic Minister was Richard Ohmes. Offertory was presented by Dorothy’s granddaughters. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mrs. Ohmes died Monday, November 29, at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett. Dorothy May Ohmes was born September 22, 1923, at Garnett, the daughter of Clifford and Ella M. (Bealer) Hunt. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and Altar Society and VFW Auxiliary. Dorothy was an avid card and bingo player. Dorothy and Rex M. Farren were married October 12, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1963. She and Clarence Warden were married May 12, 1972 and he died in 1975. Dorothy and Bernard Ohmes were married January 14, 1978. He preceded her in death in 1994. Mrs. Ohmes was also preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Ella Hunt; her brothers, Glenn Hunt, Clarence Hunt, and Keith Hunt; and her grandchildren, Bobby J. Hatton, and Andrew and Crystal Durand. Dorothy is survived by her sons and their wives, Doug and Bev Farren of Garnett, Max and Shirley Farren of Chanute, and Richard and Ruth Ohmes of Greeley; her daughters and their husbands, Ella M. and Duane Schempp of Shawnee, Jane and Bob Hatton of Shawnee, Rae Ann and John Shultz of DeSoto, Marsha and Steve Peterson of Emporia, and Sue and Robin Durand of Garnett; her sisters-in-law, Marjorie Hunt of Garnett and Edna Farren of Hutchinson; her grandchildren, David and Donna Schempp, Dale and Roberta Schempp, Dean and Meggan Schempp, Kathy Hatton, Travis R. Farren, Tena Farren, Emily Farren, Shawn Carnine, Nikki Nichols and husband Fred, Alisha Ireland, Waltham Farren, Jaxcen Farren, Melissa Hatfield and husband Larry, Tish Clevenger and husband Mark, Richard B. Ohmes, Amanda Ohmes, Lindsay Durand, Nicholas Durand, Kristie Yeager and husband Brent, Kerri Zorn and husband Jeff; her great-grandchildren, Erica Schempp, Kyle Schempp, Nathan Schempp, Caleb Schempp, Emma Schempp, Chrissy Carnine, Brittany Gray, Freddy Nichols, Chris Nichols, Callie Nichols, Lacee Ireland, Dominic Ireland, Logan Hatfield, Lucas Hatfield, Aaron Clevenger, Alex Zorn, Christian Zorn, and Ethan Zorn; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Bill Craig soloist. Musical selections included “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Amazing Grace”, and “I Can Only Imagine”. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 2: “Bobbie Dean Hardesty 1928-2004 Funeral services for Bobbie Dean Hardesty, 76, Holden, MO, formerly of Garnett and Kansas City, KS, were Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden with Rev. John Jakes officiating. Interment was in Medford Cemetery, south of Holden. Flag presentation honors at graveside were by Holden Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5844 and Munday-Hancock Post #90 of the American Legion. Mr. Hardesty died Saturday, November 20, at his home after a long illness. Bobbie Dean Hardesty was born Thursday, June 21, 1928, at Garnett, the son of Walter Lee and Juanita Esther (Stanley) Hardesty. He was raised in Garnett and then moved to the Armourdale area in Kansas City, KS, before moving to Holden in 1994, where he enjoyed being outside working on the farm. He also enjoyed going to the Kingsville Livestock Auction and riding with truckers to haul cattle, and being with his family. During the Korean War, Bobbie served in the United States Army from January 21, 1952, through December 24, 1953, attaining the rank of Corporal on March 20, 1953. After being discharged from the Army, Bobbie went to barber school and barbered for 47 years. He was a member of Holden Masonic Lodge No. 262. Mr. Hardesty is survived by his wife, Ruby, of their home; his sons, Bobbie Hardesty, Jr. and wife, Diane, Patrick Hardesty and wife, Janice, all of Kansas City, KS, and Ronnie Wall and wife Chantello of Blairstown, MO; his daughters, Joan Reid-Smith and husband Steve of Peculiar, MO, and Marcia Anstine and husband Rick of Holden; his sister, Margie Helmick and husband Ace of Overland Park; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Casketbearers were Steve Smith, Steve Ayler, Dale Reynolds, Bobby Anstine, Ivan Tompkins, and Bob Ayler. Honorary casketbearers were Randy Ring, Otto Henley, Jr. and Leonard Anstine. Memorials are suggested to Johnson County Hospice. Williams Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” “Rebecca Marie Jones 1980-2004 Funeral services for Rebecca Marie Jones, 24, Osawatomie, were Monday, December 6, 2004, at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Father George Matz officiating. Interment was in St. Boniface Cemetery. Miss Jones died Thursday, December 2, at Miami County Hospital, Paola. A complete obituary will appear in the next Advocate. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 3: “Yladia Medina 1915-2004 Mass of Christian Burial for Yladia Medina, 89, Tulsa, OK, formerly of Garnett, was Saturday, December 4, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father George Matz officiating. Interment was in Holy Angels Cemetery. Miss Medina died Wednesday, December 1, in Tulsa. Yladia Medina was born November 3, 1915, at Richtner, KS, the daughter of Enrique and Bisenta Bustamenta Medina. Her passion was taking care of others. She was an RN for 45 years and took great pride in her assistance in the delivering of more than 200 babies at Anderson County Hospital. Yladia was an active parishioner at Holy Angels Catholic Church. She loved making quilts and porcelain dolls, as well as other arts and crafts. Miss Medina was preceded in death by her parents, Enrique and Bisenta Medina; her sisters, Mary Kitterman and Catalina Medina; and her brothers, Simon Medina and Joe Medina. Yladia is survived by her sisters, Louise Casillas of Tulsa, OK, and Juanita Garcia of Kansas City, MO; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Music was provided by Sue Hardman, organist, and Scott Schulte, vocalist. Casketbearers were Randy Goodwin, Greg Casillas, John Marquez, Terry Solander, Michael Medina, and Michael Marquez.
