Interment was in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. McQuinn died Saturday, January 24, at a Topeka hospital. Cecilia Eleanor McQuinn was born May 3, 1921, in California, the fourth child of Henry and Mary (Diebolt) Wernsman. She grew up in Westphalia, KS. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary, and later Christ the King Catholic Church. Cecilia and Charles McQuinn were married April 15, 1948, in Kansas City, MO, at Redemptionist Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1991. Mrs. McQuinn was also preceded in death by her daughter; two brothers; and four sisters. Cecilia is survived by her godson, Gerald Cox, Ozark, MO; her sisters, Clara Schmidt, Albuquerque, NM, and Lorretta Wernsman, Los Lunas, NM; ten nephews and eight nieces. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care, 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606. Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 2: “Charles J. ‘C.J.’ Saterfiel 1949-2004 Funeral services for Charles J. ‘C.J.’ Saterfiel, 54, Colony, KS, were Thursday, January 29, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Northcott Church, Colony, KS, with Pastor Sharon Voorhees officiating. Interment was in Logue Cemetery, LeRoy, KS. Mr. Saterfiel died Sunday, January 25, at his home. Charles J. Saterfiel was born March 3, 1949, at Wichita Falls, TX, the son of Charles J. Saterfiel, Sr. and Betty Saterfiel. They moved to Louisiana when C.J. was six years old and remained there until he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1967. Lance Corporal Charles Saterfiel was sent to Viet Nam from 1967 to 1968 and served with Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as an M60 machine gunner during the Tet offensive and was discharged June 30, 1969. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Badge Expert, Viet Nam Service Medal #2, and Viet Nam Campaign medal. On returning from Viet Nam he lived in several places before moving to Topeka in 1980 and was one of the first group to go through the new P.T.S.D. Unit of the VA. He was a member of NRA, VFW, and the American Legion. C.J. and Sharon White were married September 9, 1988, at Lyndon, KS. They spent their honeymoon at Lake Melvern. C.J. enjoyed the outdoors, wildlife, fishing, and gardening. In 1994 he moved to Colony, and in 2000 bought a country home, where they lived until he passed away. Mr. Saterfiel was preceded in death by his father Charles J. Saterfiel; his grandmother, Nanny Merle; his brother, Ronald McCharles Saterfiel; and many comrades in arms. C.J. is survived by his wife, Sharon, Colony; his sons, Dustin James Saterfiel and Christopher Lee Saterfiel, both of Topeka, KS; one step-daughter; his brother, John Saterfiel, Metarie, LA; his mother, Betty Saterfiel, Metarie, LA; and five step-grandchildren, and many wonderful friends and comrades in arms. Music was provided by Annie Pena, soloist. Musical selections included ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘Mansion Over The Hilltop’. Casketbearers were Andy Dunlap, Dale Goins, Bill Goodell, Guillermo Pena, and Ricky Rea. Honorary casketbearers were Ken Bressi, Arden Dunbar, T.C. Miller, and John Saterfiel. The family received friends on Wednesday, January 28, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Colony. Ralph Byrd, Brumley Christian Church, officiating. Mrs. Scrivner died Monday, January 26, at her home. Ruby Irene Scrivner was born July 1, 1921, at Murry, WI, the daughter of Frank David and Shirley Marie (Smithers) Sanderson. She had been a resident of Ottawa for the past six months. Previously, she had lived in Garnett since 1989, and in Brumley, MO, from 1967 to 1987. Ruby was a lifelong homemaker. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post Auxiliary #2490, Ladysmith, WI; Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post Auxiliary #6397, Garnett; and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post Auxiliary of Olathe, KS. Ruby and Dennis B. Scrivner were married October 31, 1938, at Ladysmith, WI. Mrs. Scrivner was preceded in death by her parents, Frank David and Shirley Marie Sanderson; her grandson, Keith Scrivner; her sisters, Evaline Hasson, Beatrice Holman, and Lucille Swoverland; and her brother, Orval Sanderson. Ruby is survived by her husband, Dennis, of the home; her sons, Daniel L. Scrivner, Lake Ozark, MO, Dennis L. Scrivner, Leavenworth, KS, David L. Scrivner, Kansas City, MO, and Gregory A. Scrivner, Lake Ozark, MO; her daughters, Pamela K. Williams, Osage Beach, MO, Margaret Renee McDowell, Brumley, MO, and Kimberly S. Marriott, Ottawa, KS; her brother, Bernard Sanderson, Burbank, CA; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. The family met with friends on Wednesday, January 28, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Hedges Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Midland Hospice.
