Masingill 1955-2005 Memorial services for James C. Masingill, 50, Garnett, were Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with pastor Gale Mack officiating. Mr. Masingill died Saturday, February 5, at Anderson County Hospital. James C. Masingill was born January 23, 1955, at Englewood, CA, the son of Jerl and Elaine (Pitts) Masingill. He was self-employed as an electronic repairman. James moved to Dale OK, in 1959, then to Shawnee, OK, in 1964. He lived in the Shawnee and Maud areas until moving to Garnett in 1998. James and Phyllis Jackson were married February 18, 1972, at Shawnee, OK. She preceded him in death on October 12, 2004. Mr. Masingill was also preceded in death by his father, Jerl Masingill. James is survived by his son, Steven Masingill, of Garnett; his daughter, Lisa Pope and her husband, Joe, of Garnett; his brother, Rex Masingill, of Shawnee, OK; and his sister, Pat Masingill, of Garnett. Music was provided by Jon Covault, organist, and Vickie Gerdsen, vocalist. Musical selections included “All Things Must Pass”, “Amazing Grace”, and “In The Garden”. Memorials may be made to E.C.K.A.N. of Garnett. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” “Clara L. Hartman 1908-2005 Funeral services for Clara L. Hartman, 96, Chanute, are Friday, February 11, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel. Interment is in Welda Cemetery. Mrs. Hartman died Sunday, February 6, at Chanute Health Care Center. A complete obituary will appear in the next Advocate. Buckman, 62, Colony, were Saturday, February 5, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel in Colony with Pastor Steve Bubna officiating. Interment was in Yates Center Cemetery. Mr. Buckman died Thursday, February 3, at his home. Larry E. Buckman was born March 21, 1942, at Yates Center, the son of Emmett and Maxine (Blevins) Buckman. He graduated from Haven High School in Haven, KS, and served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1968. Larry was a member of the Southwest Missouri Team Penning Association. He worked for Katy Railroad, and for United Tire Shop in Iola. He was a machinist for Churchill in Chanute, and owned and operated the Idle Hour Tavern in Iola for several years. In recent years, he raised quarter horses. Larry and Carol Shepherd were married March 15, 1982, at Yates Center. Mr. Buckman was preceded in death by his daughter, Phyllis Buckman in 1982; and his father, Emmett Buckman in 1979. Larry is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; his sons, Terry Buckman of Fort Scott and Gary Shepard and his wife, Carrie, of Greeley; his daughter, Traci Froelich and her husband, Larry, of Bolivar, MO; his brother, Bernard Buckman of Tulsa, OK; his sister, LaDonna Hay of Wichita; his mother, Maxine Saunders of Wichita; and his beloved dog, Bob-Bob. Musical selections included “Amazing Grace”, “How Great Thou Art”, and “Precious Memories”. Casketbearers were Donnie Anderson, Ed Barker, Richard Diehl, Tom Erbe, Kendall Hutton, Darin McGhee, Kendall McGhee, and Rick Myers. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association. C.W. Parker, pastor of Central Baptist Church, Rev. Rick Parnell, associate pastor of Central Baptist Church, and Dr. Derrell Monday, pastor of First Baptist Church in Vernon, TX, officiating. Interment was at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa. Mr. Nokes died Saturday, February 5, at Pampa. Melvin Duane Nokes was born April 15, 1933, at Welda. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1968. He had worked for Cities Service Gas Company as an engineer for 37 years, retiring in 1988. Duane was a member of Delphian Masonic Lodge at Garnett. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and Adult 6 Men’s Sunday School Class. Duane and Helen Poole Worley were married March 4, 1977, at Pampa. She survives of the home. Duane is also survived by his sons, Craig Nokes and David Nokes, both of Amarillo, TX; his daughter, Alicia Gritz of El Dorado, KS; his mother, Bertha Ellington of Richmond; his step-daughters, Terri Broaddus of Santa Fe, TX, and Tamme Pike of Shamrock, TX; his step-son, Larry Worley of Santa Fe, TX; his brothers, Orval Nokes of Tonganoxie and Larry Nokes of Pittsburg; his sisters, Lorna Brecheisen of Jean, NV, Ann Osborn of Topeka, and Jeanette Mullins of Olathe; and 12 grandchildren.
