Judy Brown officiating. Interment was in Hatch Cemetery, southwest of Uniontown. Mrs. Brooks died Tuesday, February 8, at Olathe Medical Center. Marjorie Ann Brooks was born June 22, 1930, at Uniontown, the daughter of Claude H. and Margaret (Lind) Stainbrook. She was owner/operator of a health food store. Marjorie and William “Bill” Brooks were married June 5, 1945, at Fort Scott. Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her sisters, Stella Irene Carpenter and Florence Littrell. Marjorie is survived by her husband, Bill, of the home; her sons, Bill Brooks of Garnett and David Brooks of Overland Park; her daughter, Karen Brooks of Olathe; and her sisters, Claudia Mullins of Garnett, Nancy House of Altamont, and Neva Coberley of Aurora, MO. Music was provided by Jon Covault, organist, and Pam Covault, vocalist. Musical selections included “In The Garden” and “Amazing Grace”. Casketbearers were Vern Belew, Bill Brown, Chris Davis, Andy Frye, Perry House, and Charles Littrell, Jr. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 2: “Arlene M. Hirt 1923-2005 Funeral services for Arlene M. Hirt, 81, Garnett, are Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at First Christian Church. Interment is in Colony Cemetery. Mrs. Hirt died Sunday, February 13, at Kansas City, KS. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.” “Charles Lester Yaw 1922-2005 Funeral services for Charles Lester Yaw, 82, Garnett, formerly of Greeley, were Friday, February 11, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel. Interment was in Greeley Cemetery. Mr. Yaw died Tuesday, February 8, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS. Charles Lester Yaw was born March 14, 1922, at Walnut Ridge, AR, the son of Lawson and Goldie (Fischer) Buttrey. He grew up in the Kansas City and Orrick, MO, area, moving to Rich Hill, MO, after graduating from high school. Charles served with the United States Army in the European Theatre during World War II. He was a Sergeant in the 573 Tank Regiment attached to the 29th Infantry Division. He landed on Omaha beach on D-Day, fighting across France to Germany. He was active in the Theatre until the end of the war. Charles and Wanda Anglen were married May 4, 1968, at Nowata, OK. He moved to Greeley in 1968 and then to Garnett in 2002. Charles was maintenance supervisor at Owens Corning Fiberglass Plant in Kansas City, MO, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the V.F.W. post in Greeley. Mr. Yaw was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Charles is survived by his wife, Wanda, of the home; his sons, Charles Yaw of Kansas City, MO, Roy Yaw of Greeley, and Rex Yaw of Marshall, MO; his daughters, Kathy O’Dell of Orrick, MO, Alisa Sacco of Kansas City, MO, Sandra Guilfoyle of Omaha, NE, and Wendy Wolfe of Richmond; 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Scott Schulte, soloist. Musical selections included “Old Rugged Cross”, “Beyond the Moon”, and “Battle Hymn of the Republic”. Casketbearers were Rodney Brock, Damon Crouch, Thomas Gilliam, Bryan O’Dell, Brett Robertson, Masen Robertson, Mike Yaw, and Spencer Yaw. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association. Hartman, 96, Chanute, were Friday, February 11, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Father George Matz officiating. Interment was in Welda Cemetery. Mrs. Hartman died Sunday, February 6, at Chanute Health Care Center. Clara L. Hartman was born August 10, 1908, at St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of John Joseph and Isabelle (Cole) Petzell. She spent most of her life in the Welda, Garnett, and Busy City area. She enjoyed being with her family and friends. She was a waitress for more than 30 years in addition to working on the family farm. Clara liked gardening and canning, and traveling to see her nieces and nephews, as well as dancing. Clara and Walter Hartman were married September 12, 1927, at Garnett. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Hartman was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Isabelle Petzell; her brothers, Bill, Joseph, and Bernard Petzell; her sister, Gertrude Lucking; her daughter-in-law, Ruth Hartman; and her son-in-law, Roland Hunt. Clara is survived by her sons, John Hartman and his wife, Velma, of LaHarpe, and Robert Hartman and his wife, Clara Mae, of Colony; her daughter, Shirley Hunt of LaHarpe; her grandchildren, Rose Worthington and her husband, David, of Ozawkie, Marie Russell of LaHarpe, and Rex Hartman and his wife, Dottie, of Welda; her great-grandchildren, Craig Worthington of Lawrence, John Walter Worthington of Dallas, TX, Christin Hartman of LaHarpe, Julie Mae and Jonathon Hartman of Welda, and Micha Walker of LaHarpe; her great-great-grandson, Trevor Maxwell Moore, of Topeka; and many step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Richard Parks, vocalist. Musical selections included “Old Rugged Cross”, “Tears In Heaven”, and “How Great Thou Art”.
