King 1924-2005 Billy B. King, Katy, TX, died Friday, March 4, 2005, from pancreatic cancer. Bill was the son of Clyde and Gladys King. He was raised in the Harris community where he attended grade school. He graduated from Garnett High School in 1942. Mr. King was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Gladys King; his first wife, Jackie; and two sons, an infant Bruce, an older son, Randy, who died a month prior to Bill’s death, also from pancreatic cancer. Bill is survived by his wife, Helen, of Katy, TX; his son, Brice of Leawood; his sister, Patty, of Prattsville, AL; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.” “Dolores Crabtree 1936-2005 Graveside services and interment for Dolores Crabtree, 69, Colony, were Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at LeRoy Cemetery with Rev. Steve Bubna officiating. Mrs. Crabtree died March 13, at Via Christi Hospital in Wichita. Dolores Crabtree was born March 5, 1936, at Colony, the daughter of Ralph and Lillie (Gilliland) Dickerson. She graduated from Colony High School with the Class of 1954. Dolores was a member of the Colony Community Church. She enjoyed embroidery. Dolores and Richard Crabtree were married November 2, 1956, at LeRoy. To this union, five children were born. Mrs. Crabtree was preceded in death by her son, Steven Crabtree, in 1971; her grandson, Jason Abbott, in 1983; and her mother, Lillie Dickerson, in 2001. Dolores is survived by her husband, Richard, of the home; her sons, Gary Crabtree and his wife, Janet, of St. Louis, MO, and Thomas Crabtree and his wife, Janel, of Gilbert, AZ; her daughters, Susan Rowan and her husband, Joey, of Ft. Worth, TX, and Cathy Stephens and her husband, Paul, of Colony; her brother, Eugene Dickerson of Colony; her father, Ralph Dickerson of Colony; and six grandchildren. Casketbearers were Gary Crabtree, Thomas Crabtree, Bill Goodell, Joey Rowan, Paul Stephens, and Clair Wiley. The family suggests memorials to the Colony Rural Fire Department and First Responders. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 3: “Berniece Doering 1927-2005 Funeral services for Berniece Doering, 77, Garnett, were Monday, March 14, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mrs. Doering died March 10 at her home. Berniece Doering was born March 24, 1927, at Cadmus, the daughter of Cornelius V. and Pearl (McMichael) Stroup. She grew up in the Cadmus area, attending school at Cadmus, and graduating from Parker High School in 1945. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from the University of Kansas in 1949. Berniece and Henry H. Doering were married August 5, 1949, at Cadmus. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Salina for one and one half years where she taught school. They moved to Garnett in 1951, where she worked with her husband on their ranch and as a substitute teacher. Berniece was a member of P.E.O., belonging for 53 years. She was also a member of the Garnett Ladies Golf Association, Friends of the Library, and the KU Alumni Association. She was an avid golfer. Mrs. Doering was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Pearl Stroup; two brothers and one sister. Berniece is survived by her husband, Henry H. Doering, of the home; her sons, Steven B. Doering and his wife, Karen, of Garnett, and Michael C. Doering and his wife, Cindy, of Garden City; her grandchildren, Hank Doering and his wife, Laci, Greg Doering, Chris Doering, Randy Doering, Mark Doering, and Kristen Doering; and her brother Roy Stroup and his wife, Vivian, of Cadmus. Music was provided by Kristen Doering, organist, and Janelle Hartman, vocalist. Musical selections included “The Lord’s Prayer” and “Hymn of Promise”. Casketbearers were Hank Doering, Greg Doering, Chris Doering, Randy Doering, Mark Doering, and Kristen Doering. The family suggests memorial to Cottey College.
