Setter 1944-2005 Funeral Mass for Marvin C. Setter, 60, Greeley, was Saturday, January 8, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Greeley with Father George Matz officiating. Lectors were Laura Mill and Marlin McGowin. Presenting the gifts were Tom and Rosalie Rockers. Interment was in St. John’s Cemetery. Mr. Setter died Wednesday, January 5, at Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett. Marvin C. Setter was born September 3, 1944, at Greeley, the son of John W. and Marie H. (Reddy) Setter. After graduating from Greeley High School, he joined the National Guard. He worked for Taylor Forge and BEHM and retired after 25 years of service. Marv owned and operated Setter Quick Shop and Setter Retail Liquor Store for 24 years. He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Catholic Church, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Pottawatomie Watershed District. Marv enjoyed farming, golfing, and playing cards. Marvin and Diana Dalsing were married October 12, 1968, at Greeley. Four children were born to this union. They later divorced. Mr. Setter was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie Setter; and his brothers, Raymond and Delbert Setter. Marvin is survived by his sons, Gerry Setter and Doug Setter, both of Greeley; his daughters, Donna Picek and her husband, Rick, and Jamie Katzer and her husband, Kurt, all of Greeley; his twin sister, Mary Blackman, of Osawatomie; and his grandchildren, Lakin and Reece Katzer, Dalton Picek, and Blaine Setter. Music was provided by Sue Hardman, organist, and Tarrie Miller and Richard Parks vocalists. Musical selections included “That’s My Job”, “How Great Thou Art”, “Wooden Heart”, “Wayward Wind”, and “The Three Bells”. Casketbearers were Leo Donohue, Bernie Egidy, Carl Guilfoyle, Larry Morgan, Jerry Sommer, and Ronnie Sommer. Honorary casketbearers were Maurice Bloomer, Lonnie Chase, Gene Dalsing, James A. Dalsing, Bernie Gilner, Walt Lickteig, Bob Oswald, Bernard Penka, Oscar Riblett, and Eldon Riley. Rosary was said on Friday, January 7, at 7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church with visitation afterwards. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Kansas. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 3: “Ralph A. Vaughan 1908-2005 Funeral services for Ralph A. Vaughan, 96, Garnett, were Saturday, January 8, 2005, at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Steve Bubna officiating. Interment was at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Mr. Vaughan died Wednesday, January 5, at Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett. Ralph A. Vaughan was born Mary 13, 1908, at Tuscumbia, MO, the son of Theron Jacob and Myrl (Varney) Vaughan. He grew up in Tuscumbia, moving to Kansas City when he was 16 years of age. He lived in the Kansas City area until 1975, moving to Kincaid, where he lived until 1992. In 1992, he moved to Arkhaven in Garnett and to Golden Heights Living Center in 2004. Ralph loved to garden and fish. Ralph and Dorothy Moore were married November 20, 1932, at Kansas City, KS. She preceded him in death on December 31, 1999. Mr. Vaughan was also preceded in death by his parents, Theron and Myrl Vaughan; one brother and one sister. Ralph is survived by his sons, Ralph Vaughan and his wife, Bobbie, of Chulavista, CA, Donald Vaughan and his wife, Linda, of Kansas City, KS, Cliff Vaughan and his wife, Betty, of Kincaid, John Vaughan and his wife, Betty, of Grain Valley, MO, Dave Vaughan and his wife, Gail, of Hays, and John Jay Vaughan and his wife, Gayl, of Aurora, CA; his daughter, Martha Wilmoth and her husband, Doug, of Shawnee; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Marilyn Lancaster, organist, and Connie Edgerton, vocalist. Musical selections included “Precious Memories” and “In The Garden”. Casketbearers were Jim Vaughan, Mike Vaughan, Shawn Vaughan, Wayne Larson, Jim Nolan, and Bruce Goddard. The family received friends on Friday, January 7, 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
