Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Mildred. Mrs. Herynk died Monday, May 9, at Moran. Rachael Mary Herynk was born January 15, 1923, at Minneapolis, KS, the daughter of Clarence E. and Eliza Jane (Stallings) Grimes. She grew up in Liberty, MO, moving to Bush City when she was a sophomore in high school. She graduated from Kincaid High School in 1940, then attended Pittsburg Teacher’s College. After receiving her certificate, she taught school until beginning her family, where she devoted her time. Rachael enjoyed gardening, astronomy, and weather watching. She was a loving wife, mother, and a kind friend and neighbor. She was a member of Holy Angels Church and Altar Society, Parish Renewal Group, Kincaid Fair Association, and the Twentieth Century Club. Rachael and John Rollin Herynk were married December 18, 1942, at Garnett. Mrs. Herynk was preceded in death by her daughter Janie Whitcomb in 1993; her parents, Clarence and Eliza Grimes; and her brother, James Grimes. Rachael is survived by her husband, Rollin Herynk, Kincaid; her sons, Joe Herynk and his wife, Sue, of Lawrence, and Jeff Herynk and his wife, Rosalie, of Dillon, CO; her daughters, Ann Donaldson and her husband, Jack, of Moran, Susie Huffman and her husband, Dan, of Lawrence, and Angie Larson and her husband, Mark, of Colony; 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Peggy Tholen. Musical selections included “Prayer To St. Francis”, “Be Not Afraid”, “On This Day O Beautiful Mother”, and “On Eagle’s Wings”. Casketbearers were Arliss Adams, Kendall Adams, Glen Hermreck, Harold Sprague, Vernon Sprague, and Jim Vaughan. The family suggests memorials to Allen County Hospice.
