Jerry Harnden officiating. Interment was in Richmond Cemetery, Richmond. Mrs. Moore died Sunday, January 9, at Village Manor Nursing Home in Ottawa. Evelyn Mae Moore was born August 5, 1923, at Ottawa, the daughter of Ray and Lola (Grewell) Pearson. She had lived in Franklin County most of her life. For short periods of time in the 1950’s, she lived in Coolidge, KS, and Holly, CO. Evelyn attended Ottawa schools, receiving her GED in Ottawa. She received her CNA-CMA-Activity Director/Social Service Designee certification from Allen County Community College, Neosho County Community College, and Fort Scott Community College. She worked in laundry, housekeeping, and kitchen at Richmond Care Center. She was previously employed at Crestview Care Home in Ottawa as CNA-CMA-Activity Director/Social Service Designee, and was operator with her husband of Zero Lockers in Ottawa, owner/operator of Richmond Locker, and owner of Princeton Grocery. Evelyn was a member of Williamsburg Wildlife Association. Evelyn and Fred Albert Moore were married September 28, 1941, at Richmond. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1989. Mrs. Moore was also preceded in death by her son, Bill Moore; her son-in-law, Bobby Ubelaker; her grandson, Clayton Moore; her parents, Ray and Lola Pearson; her brothers, Leonard Pearson, Henry Pearson, Lyle Pearson, Denzil Pearson, and Don Pearson; and her brothers-in-law, Pete Nuss and Fred Alley. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Ubelaker of Ottawa; her daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Wayne James of Ottawa, and Barbara and Don Downey of Conroe, TX; her sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Angie Moore of Princeton, Phil and Donna Moore and Clancy and Becky Moore, all of Ottawa, and Pat and Glenda Moore of Turner, OR; her brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Pat Pearson of Platte City, MO; her sisters-in-law, Peg Pearson of Lyndon, Florence Pearson of Seneca, Nora Pearson of California, Pat Ziegler of Overland Park, and Shirley Nuss and Alberta Alley, both of Meade; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; her special friend, Sheila May; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. The family suggests memorials to Ottawa/Williamsburg Wildlife Association, Franklin County Cancer Foundation, and Camp Chippewa, Ottawa. Gerber, 92, Burlington, IA, were Monday, January 10, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Burlington with Rev. Tom Smith, Rev. Terry Halstead, and Mrs. Doris Kulp officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery on Wednesday, January 12 at 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Gerber died Friday, January 7, at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, IA. Nora L. Gerber was born January 16, 1911, at Greenvalley, MO, the daughter of Wallace and Mary (Liddle) Moore. She lived with her grandparents until she was in high school, as her mother was a seamstress on the Harvey Railroad and traveled a great deal. She graduated from William Christmas High School and later from Graceland College in Lamoni, IA. After college graduation, she taught in a one-room school near Muscatine. Nora and Walter E. Gerber were married June 16, 1934, at Liberty, MO. She and her husband owned and operated the Kewanee, IL, airport. They later purchased a Mobil Oil station and convenience store near the Wethersfield Schools and enjoyed the many activities and friends of their three children. Nora was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where she was a member of the Builders Sunday School and Martha Circle, baked pies and helped with special dinners. Before moving to Burlington, she was an active member of the Baptist Church in Garnett, where she was also a member of Eastern Star for more than 50 years, serving in many capacities, including two times as Worthy Matron. Nora loved to crochet and make quilts for her family. Mrs. Gerber was preceded in death by her husband, Walter E. Gerber, on March 1, 1985; her parents, Wallace and Mary Moore; and three sisters and one brother. Nora is survived by her sons, Walter I. Gerber and his wife, Patricia, of Rock Island, IL, and John E. Gerber and his wife, Georgia, of Canton, MO; her daughter, Shirley Bliven and her husband, David, of Burlington, IA; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Memorials have been established for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Burlington, IA, and the American Red Cross (Tsunami Relief Fund).
