Walker 1945-2005 Funeral services for Ines A. Walker, 59, Colony, were Saturday, May 21, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel in Colony with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Colony Cemetery. Mrs. Walker died Tuesday, May 17, at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. Ines A. Walker was born June 30, 1945, at Moran, the daughter of Kenneth and Opal (Gamble) Honaker. She grew up in the Elsmore area, attending the Bethel Grade School and graduating from Elsmore High School in 1963. She attended Allen County Community College for one year. Following her marriage, she spent the rest of her life in Colony. Ines was a member of the Colony Christian Church. She was an inventory production clerk for Herff Jones in Iola from March, 1979, to the present. She loved to work in her yard and her flower beds. Ines and Barry Walker were married July 4, 1964, at Jeddo United Brethren Church in Allen County, KS. He survives of the home. Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Opal Honaker. Ines is also survived by her son, Dr. Scott Walker, M.D., of Temple, TX; her daughter, Jennifer Braun and her husband, Michael, of Phillipsburg’ her brothers, Donald Honaker of Kansas City, KS, Loren Honaker of Blue Springs, MO, and Merle Honaker of Dewey, OK; her sisters, Jane Massey of Humboldt, Karen Jackson of Mound City, and Linda Seuferling of Bucyrus; and her grandchildren, Ellie and Repp Braun of Phillipsburg. Music was provided by Kloma Bucklet, pianist. Musical selections included “In The Garden”. Casketbearers were Sheldon Caudell, Russell Cleaver, Larry Feese, Clifford Spencer, Wallace Strickler, and Bob Swift. The family suggests memorials to Colony Christian Church or Colony Fire Department. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.” Page 5, Column 4: “Ben L. Brinkmeyer 1930-2005 Funeral services for Ben L. Brinkmeyer, 75, Garnett, were Saturday, May 21, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mr. Brinkmeyer died Wednesday, May 18, at St. Luke’s’ Hospital, Kansas City, MO. Ben L. Brinkmeyer was born March 3, 1930, at Lenora, KS, the son of Benjamin Albert and Bessie Faye (Fugate) Brinkmeyer. He attended school in Norton and Chanute, and graduated from Greeley High School. Ben served with the United States Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He worked for HUMCO in Garnett as a truck driver until retiring in 1995. After retiring, he worked part-time for Beckman Motors shuttling cars. Ben was a 50-year member of Delphian Lodge in Garnett, a 50-year member of the Scottish Rite in Lawrence, a 50-year and lifetime member of Garnett VFW Memorial Post #6397, and a member of the Eagles Lodge in Ottawa. Ben and Mary Lou Humbert were married April 23, 1954, at Garnett. She survives, of the home. Ben is also survived by his son, Mick Brinkmeyer and his wife, Karen, of Garnett; his daughter, Chris Brooks and her husband, David, of Huntsville, AR; and his grandchildren, Becky Crawford and her husband, Tom, of Melvern, and Scott Brinkmeyer of Garnett. Musical selections included “Peace In The Valley”, “One Day At A Time”, and “Can I Have This Dance”. Casketbearers were Cleve Beckman, Scott Brinkmeyer, Daryl Chapman, Tom Crawford, Eric Honn, Mike Honn, Jim Humbert, and Joe F. Humbert. Honorary casketbearers were Jack Angell, Martin Honn, Jim Humbert, Joe Humbert, Jr., Lee Kellerman, and George Papps. The family suggests memorials to the VFW National Home for Children.
