Marie Boyles 1917-2005 Funeral services for A. Marie Boyles, 87, Garnett, were Friday, July 8, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mrs. Boyles died Sunday, July 4, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Merriam, KS. A.Marie Boyles was born October 9, 1917, in Miami, OK, the daughter of Lester and Selma Rice. The family moved to Kansas in 1929. Marie was married to Fred Boyles II on December 21, 1933, at Butler, MO. Three children were born to this union. Marie and Fred enjoyed raising their family and working on the farms in Garnett. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1960. In her early years, she worked as a cook at the Anderson County Sale Barn, and later worked for Franklin Drug Store, St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, MO, and at the Old American Inn in Garnett. Marie was a member of the Sunshine Quilt Club. She enjoyed her travels to guest ranches in Arizona and Colorado. She liked country music and dancing. She loved animals, especially her beloved cat, Shoney. Mrs. Boyles was also preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly Phares on October 19, 2001; her grandson, Stanton Phares on November 15, 2005; her step-mother, Emma Rice; her sisters, Genevieve Davis and Lucille Francis; her brother, Leslie Rice; her step-sister, Roberta Loy; and her step-brothers, Jack, Bob, and Charles Lewis. Marie is survived by her sons, Fred Boyles III and his wife, Myrna, of Garnett, and Lee Boyles of Ottawa; her son-in-law, Phil Phares of Garnett; her grandchildren and their spouses, Becki and Glen Hermreck of Leawood, Tami Boyles of Garnett, Kelli and Jeff Burris of Bonner Springs, Debbi and Mark Campbell of Bastrop, TX, and Krista Phares; her great-grandchildren, Natalie Campbell, and Blake, Brandon, and blaine Hermreck; her brother, John Francis of Colorado; and her step-sister, Margaret Hunt of Lawrence. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist. Musical selections included “The Lord’s Prayer”, “One Day at A Time”, and “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”. Casketbearers were Mark Campbell, Natalie Campbell, Blake Hermreck, Brandon Hermreck, Blaine Hermreck, and Doug Mader. The family suggests memorials to Garnett Alzheimer’s Support Group. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” “Charles C. ‘Chuck’ Reams 1923-2005 Private family memorial services will be held for Charles C. ‘Chuck’ Reams, 81, Ottawa, who died Friday, July 1, 2005, at Richmond Care Center, Richmond, KS. Charles C. Reams was born November 18, 1923, at Ottawa, the son of Carl and Susie (Cameron) Reams. He was a lifelong Ottawa resident and attended Ottawa schools. Church was self-employed for 20 years, contracting out as a heavy equipment bulldozer operator. Mr. Reams was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Susie Reams; and his sister, Grace Fisher. Chuck is survived by his daughters, Marita Kay (Reams) VanErt of Edenton, NC, and Carol Jane Vaitses of Clinton, CT; his sister, Louise Traul of Baldwin City; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
