Gary Benjamin officiating. Inurnment is Saturday, July 30, at 10:00 a.m. at Garnett Cemetery. Mr. McLaughlin died early Monday morning, July 25, 2005 at Golden Heights Living Center. James Welcome McLaughlin was born June 8, 1921, at Twin Falls, ID, the son of William L., and Grace (Syres) McLaughlin. He grew up in Garnett. He attained the rank of Boatswain’s Mate 2/C while serving with the United States Navy from May 28, 1940 to June 2, 1946. He then lived in Nevada, Nowata, OK, and Corpus Christi, TX, before returning to Garnett in 2003. He was a salesman in the industrial stainless steel industry. Mr. McLaughlin was preceded in death by his brother, Lorimer McLaughlin, on February 24, 1996. Welcome is survived by his son, John Leslie McLaughlin of Pasadena, TX; and three grandchildren. Music was provided by Ben Tush, Howard Tush, Dawn Tush, and Tom Tush, guitarists, and Dawn Tush, vocalist. Musical selections included “In The Garden”, “Old Rugged Cross”, and “Amazing Grace”.
