Smith 1919-2005 Graveside services for Virginia L. Smith, 85, of Moran were Saturday, July 30, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bronson Cemetery, Bronson, KS. Mrs. Smith died Tuesday, July 26, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola. Virginia L. Smith was born August 7, 1919, at Bronson, the daughter of Arthur and Gertrude (Kimmel) McClimans. She attended schools in New Mexico and Texas, graduating from Marfa, TX, in 1936. Virginia and James W. Smith were married January 19, 1938. Before joining “Smitty” in Germany, she worked at the Bronson Bank in Bronson. After retiring from the military, they lived in Bronson and Lawton, OK, later moving to Moran. She had been a resident of Moran Manor for approximately two years. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Smith; and their only child, a son, Jimmy. Virginia is survived by her twin brother, Malcom McClimans, and her sister, Lavon Elrod, both of Moran; two nieces, Jackie Warren and her husband, Allen, of Fort Scott, and Sharon Jackson and her husband, Bruce of Chanute; and four nephews, Skip McClimans of Verona, WI, Terry McClimans and his wife Debbie, of Parker, CO, Jesse Elrod and his wife, Wilma, of Tulsa, OK, and Bob Elrod and his wife, Marilyn, of Littleton, CO. Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Moran, was in charge of arrangements.” “Rev. Cecil C. Pickert, O. Carm. Mass of Christian Burial for Rev. Cecil C. Pickert, O. Carm., 73, is Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Church in Scipio. Interment is in St. Boniface Cemetery. Father Pickert died Thursday, July 28, in Washington, D.C. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 2, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the church. A Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. A complete obituary will appear in the next Advocate.
