Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” Anna Marie Gretencord 1916-2005 Funeral services for Anna Marie Gretencord, 89, Richmond, were Tuesday, October 4, 2005, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Richmond, with Father Emil Agostino officiating. Interment was in St. Boniface Cemetery, Scipio. Mrs. Gretencord died Thursday, September 29, at Richmond Health Care and Rehab, LLC. A complete obituary will appear in the next Advocate. Interment is in Fairview Cemetery near Mildred. Mr. Henderson died Sunday, October 2, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. Elliss, 93, Kincaid, formerly of Iola and Westphalia, were Monday, October 3, 2005, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Iola with Bishop Nathan Fawson officiating. Interment was in Cherry Mound Cemetery, north of Westphalia. Mrs. Elliss died Wednesday, September 28, at Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care in Garnett. Vera L. Elliss was born June 19, 1912, in Frontier County, NE, the daughter of Munson ‘Lonnie’ and Ella May (Chatelain) Morton. She grew up in Frontier County until the family moved to Hall’s Summit, north of Burlington, when she was 16 years of age. She graduated from Burlington High School and taught school for a year in Coffey County before she married Lylbun C. Elliss on May 14, 1944, at Garnett. They made their home on a farm two miles north of Westphalia. When they retired from farming in 1986, they moved to Iola. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2000. Vera was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Iola. She had been active in the Eastern Star, E.H.U.’s, and 4-H organizations when she lived at Westphalia. Mrs. Elliss was also preceded in death by six siblings, one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter. Vera is survived by her sons, Lylbun Elliss, Jr. of Bloomfield, NM, Leroy Elliss of Haysville, Norman Elliss of Westphalia, and Joe Ellis of New Harmony, UT; her daughters, Darline Spillman of Kincaid and Colleen Ellis of Iola; her brother, Floyd Morton of Sullivan, IL; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Lickteig, 55, Paola, were Saturday, October 1, 2005, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Greeley with Father Brian Klingele officiating. Interment was in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mr. Lickteig died Tuesday, September 27, at Miami County Hospital in Paola. Howard ‘Hoot’ L. Lickteig was born April 7, 1950, at Garnett, the son of Maurice Jacob and Florence (Brummel) Lickteig. He graduated from Greeley High School with the Class of 1968. He attended seminary school for one year, followed by one year of college at Allen County in Iola. Howard and Brenda Spain were married in 1978 at St. Boniface Church at Scipio. He later moved to Colorado where he lived for approximately 10 years before returning to the area in 1985. Howard worked as a heavy equipment operator for McCorkendale Construction, Inc. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and his farm and gardens. Mr. Lickteig was preceded in death by his father, Maurice ‘Dutch’ Lickteig in 1997. Howard is survived by his daughters, Kelsay Lickteig of Pittsburg and Lindsay Faust of Yuma, AZ; his mother, Florence Lickteig of Greeley; his brothers, Jake Lickteig of Garnett, Ron Lickteig of Merriam, Merle Lickteig of Overland Park, and Dean Lickteig, Jim Lickteig, and Rick Lickteig, all of Greeley; his sisters, Nancy Lee and Dottie Lickteig, both of Overland Park, and Lynn Lickteig, of Boulder, CO; 16 nieces and nephews; five great-nieces and one great-nephew; and one grandchild-to-be-due in May, 2006. Music was provided by Sue Hardman, organist, and the Mader Family, vocalists. Musical selections included “Be Not Afraid”, “You Are Near”, “It’s Only A Shadow”, and “How Great Thou Art”. Casketbearers were Jake Lickteig, Ron Lickteig, Merle Lickteig, Dean Lickteig, Jim Lickteig, and Rick Lighteig. Honorary casketbearers were Bill Robotham, Robert Mersman, Jeff Mersman, Bernie Gilner, Chris Feuerborn, and Rick Mersman. Memorials are suggested to St. John the Baptist Catholic School.
