Henderson 1917-2005 Funeral services for Olin M. Henderson, 88, rural Kincaid, were Wednesday, October 5, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Memorial Chapel, Iola, with Rev. Lloyd Houk officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery near Mildred. Mr. Henderson died Sunday, October 2, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. Olin M. Henderson was born February 19, 1917, at Bush City, the son of Manford O. and Ruth R. (Roselle) Henderson. The family moved to a farm southeast of Kincaid where he grew up. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Olin and Virginia D. Jackson were married November 26, 1945. They made their home on the farm southeast of Kincaid. He was a farmer and stockman. He was a member of the Moran American Legion. Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Brown. Olin is survived by his wife, Virginia; his daughters, Ruth Church of Colony and Linda Russell of Moran; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association. Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.” “Helen Nadine Larkin 1920-2005 Graveside services and interment for Helen Nadine Larkin, 84, Ottawa, were Saturday, October 1, 2005, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona. Mrs. Larkin died Thursday, September 29, at Richmond Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, LLC. Helen Nadine Larkin was born December 25, 1920, at Ottawa, the daughter of John and Nina Faye (Miller) Crocker. She was a near lifelong resident of Ottawa and attended Ottawa schools. She worked a short time at the PX in Alaska. She also worked as a waitress, at Montgomery Ward, Parmalee, Pamida, and Wal-Mart, and owned Mode O’Day dress shop, all in Ottawa. Nadine was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ottawa, and was a past member of Aerie Lodge #309, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary in Lawrence. Nadine and Paul L. Johnson were married May 18, 1938, at Lawrence. He preceded her in death in 1976. On May 25, 1982, Nadine was united in marriage with Larry J. Larkin at Vinita, OK. He survives of their home. Mrs. Larkin was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Nina Crocker; her stepfather, Charles E. Hill; and her stepsons, Steven E. Larkin and David C. Larkin. Nadine is also survived by her sons, Larry G. Johnson of Independence, MO, and Charles M. Johnson of Lawrence; her daughters, Judy Farrell of Ottawa and Verdia Mae Gray of Wellsville; her stepson, Calvin Larkin of Olathe; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Kansas of Richmond HealthCare Center. Interment was in St. Boniface Cemetery, Scipio. Mrs. Gretencord died Thursday, September 29, at Richmond Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, LLC. Anna Marie Gretencord was born July 10, 1916, in Anderson County, the daughter of Valentine and JoHanna (Hastert) Bures. She was a member of the St. Therese Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, gardening, flowers, and baking. Anna Marie and Frank J. Gretencord were married September 13, 1938, at Richmond. To this union, six children were born. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1990. Mrs. Gretencord was also preceded in death by her son, Dean Gretencord, on September 26, 1967; and her parents, Valentine and JoHanna Bures. Anna Marie is survived by her daughter, Judith Ann Wall of Richmond; her sons, Howard Gretencord and his wife, Carol, of Kansas City, Larry Gretencord and his wife, Nancy, and Terry Gretencord and his wife, Geryl, all of Wellsville, and Mike Gretencord, of Ottawa; her sisters, Doris Hicks and Clara Powell, both of Garnett, and Evelyn Pontius, of Oregon; 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Music was provided by Cathy Parsons. Musical selections included “On This Day O’ Beautiful Mother”, “Gentle Woman”, “How Great Thou Art”, “The Lord’s Prayer”, and “Amazing Grace”. Casketbearers were Kurt Wall, Derek Gretencord, Darin Gretencord, Loren Gretencord, Ryan Gretencord, and Craig Gretencord. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.” “Leonard ‘Lenny’ Adams 1952-2005 Graveside services and interment for Leonard ‘Lenny’ Adams, 52, Balch Springs, TX, were Monday, October 3, 2005, at Holy Angels Cemetery in Garnett with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Mr. Adams died Thursday, September 29, at his home. Lenny Adams was born December 4, 1952, at Utica, NY, the son of Leonard and Helen (Swaboda) Adams. He worked for Carter Blood Care in Bedford, TX, as a Quality Assurance Manager. Lenny and Jackie Kay Fisher were married June 21, 1979. She still resides in Balch Springs, TX. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Jack Fisher. Lenny is also survived by his parents, Leonard and Helen Adams of Arlington, TX; his sister, Cheryl LaParde and her husband, Leo, of Kaufman, TX; his nieces, Kari LaParde and Kimberly LaParde of Kaufman, TX; his nephew, Todd Adams of Dallas, TX; his mother-in-law, Freedia Fisher (Parker) of Garnett; and his step-sons, George Kellerman and family of Centerville and Jack Kellerman and family of Georgetown, KY. He also leaves a host of family, friends, and co-workers. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mrs. Cole died Thursday, September 29, at Anderson County Hospital. Treva Rhue Cole was born April 21, 1917, on a farm at Cherry Mound outside of Westphalia, the daughter of Mark D. and Nellie (Stephenson) Hill. She graduated from Westphalia High School and taught school at Maple Grove and later Chase Mound rural schools. Treva and Claron G. Cole were married June 19, 1938. This union was blessed with three children, Mark, Gary, and Marilyn. She was a long time member of the First Christian Church and P.E.O. Sisterhood. She played bridge and was an avid reader and continued to do both until her death. Mrs. Cole was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Nellie Hill; and two infant brothers. Treva is survived by her husband of 67 years, Claron, of the home; her children, Mark Cole and his wife, Karen, of Pittsburg, Gary Cole and his wife, Missy, of Enid, OK, and Marilyn Kohn and her husband, Steven, of Peoria, IL; her grandchildren, Chelsea Cole, Hilary Cole, Elizabeth Cole, Jeff O’Neil, Amber Hunter, Garrett Crissup, Lauren Kohn, and David Kohn; her sister, Marjorie Smith of Lawrence, her brothers-in-law, Orville Cole and his wife Laverne, and Roy Cole, all of Garnett; and six nieces and nephews. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Earl ‘Butch’ Rocker, soloist. Musical selections included “How Great Thou Art’ and “The Lord’s Prayer”.
