Cooper 1916-2005 Funeral services for Harold H. Cooper, 88, Moran, were Saturday, November 26, 2005, at Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Chapel in Iola with Rev. Jim Rausch officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Mildred, KS. Mr. Cooper died Wednesday, November 23, at Moran Manor, where he had resided for three years. Harold H. Cooper was born December 16, 1916, in rural Blue Mound, the son of Charles H. and Bertha B. (Rudisill) Cooper. He grew up in the Kincaid area. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Harold and Dorothy M. Herrmann Anderson were married November 14, 1947, at Bentonville, AR. She preceded him in death on October 9, 1998. They made their home on a farm southeast of Mildred where he farmed and raised cattle. He also worked in the oil fields around Kincaid and for Smethers Implement at Kincaid. Harold served as sexton for the Fairview Cemetery at Mildred for many years where he and Aaron Hosley dug graves by hand until their healths failed. He was a member of the Mildred United Methodist Church and was a life member of the Kincaid V.F.W. Mr. Cooper was also preceded in death by his grandchildren, Tambra Samuels and Matt Samuels; his brother, Lonnie Cooper, and his sister, Cosma Dingus. Harold is survived by his daughters, Millie Clements-Badders and her husband, Don, of Iola, and Pat Tippie and her husband, Carroll, of Humboldt; his close friend, Audrey Maley of Moran; his brother, Bill Cooper and his wife, Kathryn, of Garnett; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Interment is in Mont Ida Cemetery, Mont Ida, KS. Mrs. Parks died Thursday, November 24, at Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care, Garnett. Ruby L. Parks was born October 3, 1929, at Westphalia, the daughter of William Frederick and Lucille Teresa (Huettenmuller) Long. She graduated from Westphalia High School with the Class of 1947. She worked at Cornett Manufacturing in Garnett for two years following high school. Ruby and Ray Owen Parks were married February 15, 1948, at Welda. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2005. After starting her family, Ruby went back to work at Western Auto from 1969 to 1973, then worked at Sears for 10 years. She then worked as a social service designee at Oakhaven Nursing Home in Richmond, retiring in 1995. She led a daily devotion at Oak Haven before and after she retired from there. During her retirement, Ruby was an Avon representative for eight years. She was a member of the First Christian Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, and was a former member of BPW. She loved to garden and enjoyed oil painting at Jan’s Craftique for 10 years. Ruby also organized and led a Bible study after moving to Parkside Place apartments in Garnett. Mrs. Parks was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Amber Renee Frankenfield; her sister, Pearl Obrecht; and her brother-in-law, Bennie Parks. Ruby is survived by her sons, Steve Parks of Richmond and Gary Parks of Ottawa; her daughters, Janette Peine of Newport, WA, and Ronda Frankenfield of Olathe; her brother and his wife, Gail and Beverly Long of Garnett; her sister, Opal Lucille Parks of Garnett; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Music will be provided by Laura parks, organist, and Richard Park, soloist. Musical selections include ‘The King Is Coming’, ‘Amazing Grace’, and ‘Victory In Jesus’. Casketbearers are Roger Adams, Tom Adams, Toby Long, Duane Long, Roger Hiestand, and Russell Blubaugh. Honorary casketbearers are Sam Hiestand and Dale Peine. The family will greet friends on Friday, December 2, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association. Mrs. Ray died Wednesday, November 23, at Golden Heights Living Center. Minnie C. Ray was born March 6, 1922, at Dublin, GA, the daughter of Michael V. and Annie Lou (Yarberry) Arnau. She grew up in Thomasville, GA, moving to Arkansas in 1943. She lived in Osawatomie from 1950-1965, in Independence, MO from 1965-1978, in Olathe from 1978-1985, in Belton, MO, from 1985-2000, and in Garnett since 2000. Minnie was a member and past president of the Women’s Booster Club in Osawatomie. She worked in the cosmetics department at Montgomery Ward and for Adler’s clothing store. She was a member of the Episcopal Churches in Independence, Olathe, and Harrisonville, MO. Minnie especially enjoyed visiting with friends and playing cards. Minnie and Pliny C. Ray, Jr. were married November 1, 1936, at Thomasville, Ga. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1985. Mrs. Ray was also preceded in death by her son, Carl Ray in 1999; her brother, Mike Arnau; her sister, Mickey Crawford; and her son-in-law, Paul Thorla in 1991. Minnie is survived by her son, Mike Ray and his wife, Penny, of Petersburg, FL; her daughters, Carolyn Thorla of Simi Valley, CA and Margaret Knight and her husband Charlie of Garnett; her sister, Martha Vaughn of Green Cove Springs, FL; her daughter-in-law, Gwen Ray of Seattle, WA; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Rhonda Rhoades. Musical selections included “How Firm A Foundation’, ‘I Know Who Holds Tomorrow’, and ‘Ready To Fly’. Casketbearers were Nicholas Hosseini, Charlie Knight, Steve Mayhue, Gary Ray, Richie Sinclair, and Rick Sinclair.
