Mrs. Detwiler died Monday, November 28, at Olathe Medical Center. Glaydes 'Joan' Detwiler was born February 26, 1932, at Rantoul, the daughter of Henry and Ida (Lavaun) VanLoenen. She was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and graduated from Ottawa High School with the Class of 1950. Joan was a supervisor for King Radio in Ottawa, employed in 1974 to retirement in 1994, and was a longtime homeowner. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901 Auxiliary, both in Ottawa. Joan and Junior Detwiler were married April 19, 1952, at Ottawa. He survives of their home. Mrs. Detwiler was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ida VanLoenon; her step- mother, Lois VanLoenen; her brother, Bud VanLoenon; and her sisters, June Huyett and Evelyn Swarting. Joan is also survived by her daughter, Debbie Sams of Ottawa; her son, Keith Detwiler of Richmond; her sisters, Fern Keeny of Kansas City, MO, Amy Howell of Pomona, Louise Brooksher of Wichita, and Becky Chapman of Lawrence; her brother, Alan VanLoenen of Lawrence; her grandchildren, Sherri Jackson, Derek Detwiler, Daniel Detwiler, and Kristin Detwiler; and her great-grandchildren, Dustin Jackson, Daniel Jackson, Dakota Jackson, Emilio Lopez, Jasmine Lopez, and Anthony Detwiler. "Eva Mae Brecheisen 1920-2005 Graveside services for Eva Mae Brecheisen, 85, Galena, were Monday, November 28, at Hill Crest Cemetery, Galena, with Doc Venturella officiating. Miss Brecheisen died Thursday, November 24, at St. John's Hospital, Joplin, MO. Eva Mae Brecheisen was born August 26, 1920, at Bayard, NE, the eldest of five children of William C. and Agnes (Livingston) Brecheisen. She was quite young when her mother died and many household responsibilities fell on her young shoulders. After graduation from Welda High School, Eva worked in Kansas City for a period of time and then moved to Wichita where she lived for 20 years. While in Wichita, she worked for Boeing and Langdon Tent & Awning Company. In 1962, she moved to Galena and lived there the remaining years of her life. In Galena, she worked as a dinner cook for Nickerson Farms. Miss Brecheisen was preceded in death by her parents, William and Agnes Brecheisen; and her brothers, Lowell Brecheisen and Louis Brecheisen. Eva is survived by her brother, William Brecheisen and his wife, Eva, of Welda; her sister-in-law, Evelyn Brecheisen of Wellsville; one brother-in-law, Homer Thurman of Wichita; several nieces and nephews; and her friends, Betty and Doc Venturella of Riverton." Page 5, Column 2: "Elaine Lewis 1925-2005 Funeral services for Elaine Lewis, 80, Garnett, were Wednesday, November 30, 2005, at First Christian Church with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was Thursday, December 1, in Shelton Township Cemetery, Shelton, NE. Mrs. Lewis died Monday, November 28, at Anderson County Hospital. Elaine Lewis was born April 30, 1925, at Moravia, IA, the daughter of John B. and Jessie Mildred (Jones) Anderson. She grew up in Iowa, graduating from Conesville High School. She lived in Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas most of her life, living in Garnett since 1980. Elaine was a member of the First Christian Church. Her favorite hobby was her grandchildren. Elaine and Keith D. Lewis were married July 12, 1942, at Lancaster, MO. This union was blessed with three children. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1992. Mrs. Lewis was also preceded in death by her son, Gary Lewis; her parents, John and Jessie Anderson; and her brother, Richard Anderson. Elaine is survived by her son, Kevin Lewis and his wife, Sandy, of Garnett; her daughter, Linda Kyle and her husband, Ted, of Greensburg; her brother, James Anderson of Muscatine, IA; her sisters, Wanda Terry of Bartlesville, OK, and Donna Bassett of Winterset, IA; and six grandchildren. Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Earl Rocker, soloist. Musical selections included 'In The Garden' and 'I Know Who Holds Tomorrow'. Casketbearers were Tim Kyle, Adam Lewis, Kevin Lewis, Ted Kyle, Darin Ross, Rick Lewis, and Clark Nuttleman. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church or Gideons International. "JoAnne Haegert 1934-2005 Funeral services for JoAnne Haegert, 70, Garnett, were Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at Garnett First United Methodist Church with Pastor Rocky Ratts officiating. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. Mrs. Haegert died Saturday, December 3, at Providence Medical center in Kansas City, KS. A complete obituary will appear in the next Advocate. Gary Benjamin officiating. Interment was in Garnett Cemetery. Mrs. Jones died Saturday, November 26, at Guest Home Estates in Garnett. Amanda Frances Jones was born August 6, 1923, at Creighton, MO, the daughter of Marion David and Eliza Ellen (Cox) Boyles. She grew up in Missouri, attending school in Creighton and Garden City, MO. She lived for a short time in the Little Rock, AR, area and moved to Garnett in 1961. After moving to Garnett, she worked as a cook at Boyd's Nursing Home. Amanda enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, and word search puzzles. Amanda and Jeffie Thurman Jones were married September 17, 1950, at Bentonville, AR. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1988. Mrs. Jones was also preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Eliza Boyles; her brothers, Joe Boyles and George Boyles; and her sister, Goldie. Amanda is survived by her sons, Roger T. Jones of Iola, Lee Jones and his wife, Cathy, of Yuma, AZ, and Anthony Jones of Buford, SC; her daughters, Marlene Stifter and her husband, Roy, of Greeley, and Dorothy Thompson and her husband, Sid, of Garnett; her brother, Frank Boyles of Garden City, MO; her sister, Cestley Miller of Independence, MO; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Music was provided by Tina Stifter, vocalist. Musical selections included 'Amazing Grace', 'On Eagles Wings', and 'In The Garden'. Casketbearers were Lee K. Jones, Anthony Jones, Jeffrey Stifter, Mike Stifter, Jason Stifter, and Hannah Stifter.
