Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Powelson died November 22, at his home. Richard Sisler Powelson was born August 4, 1923, at Richmond, the son of Scott and Faye (Sisler) Powelson. His mother died when Richard was young. His father married Edna Brown, who became his mother. Reared on a dairy farm in the Richmond area, Richard was awarded the Battenfield Scholarship to the University of Kansas, but he left college to help operate the family farm. He later went into insurance sales and served in the Knights of Columbus before joining the United States Postal Service. He was a Permanent Deacon for 24 years at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and was an active volunteer of the United Way of Greater Memphis for 12 years. He was selected United Way Senior Volunteer of the Year in 1997 for six years of work as a loan executive. At one point, he was credited with helping to raise more than $1.5 million for United Way agencies. He was a retired sales director of the 13-state Southern region of the U.S. Postal service, and previously was the first director of marketing of the regional Postal Service based in Wichita. He was part of the national promotion for the use of the five-digit Zip Code. Richard enjoyed community service at his church and local institutions, and aided the disadvantaged in the Memphis area. His favorite hobby was quality time with his large family of 12 children and 17 grandchildren. But he also enjoyed shopping for many bargains. Mr. Powelson is survived by his wife, Delma (Feuerborn) Powelson, of the home; his children, Therese Hoss, Kathleen Bryson, Amy Beard, Emily Bell, Jill Powelson, Melanie Whitson, and Dr. Jared Powelson, all of the Memphis area, Jan Clevenger of Charlotte, NC, Gayle Powelson of St. Louis, MO, Alan Powelson of Maineville, OH, Dr. Stephanie Powqelson of Kirksville, MO, and Richard Scott Powelson of Rockville, MO; his sisters, Mary Jane French of Scipio, Betty Jenkins of Denver, CO, and Patricia Atwood of Niangua, MO; and his brother, Scott Powelson of Richmond. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Powelson/Immaculate Conception (elementary school) Scholarship Fund, c/o Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, 1900 Union Avenue, Memphis, TN 38104. Page 5, Column 2: "JoAnne Haegert 1934-2005 Funeral services for JoAnne Haegert, 70, Garnett, were Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at Garnett First United Methodist Church with Pastor Rocky Ratts officiating. Private inurnment was in Sweet Home Cemetery, Lebanon, KS. Mrs. Haegert died Saturday, December 3, at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. JoAnne Haegert was born December 12, 1934, at Garden City, the daughter of Gilbert and Ila Mae (Keller) Rundell. She graduated from Kansas State University in 1965 and taught in various schools in Kansas for 30 years, including Scandia, Harper, Satanta, and Effingham. JoAnne and Daryl Haegert were married September 3, 1955, at Manhattan. He preceded her in death in 2003. They enjoyed their 'Gourds-n-Things' business and participated in area craft shows for several years. She was active in AAUW, city theater productions, and at the Garnett Public Library. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Mrs. Haegert was also preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Ila Rundell. JoAnne is survived by her sons, Dirk Haegert and his wife, Joy, of Emporia, and Darin Haegert of Torrance, CA; her daughter, Jo Greene and her husband, Joe, of Roeland Park; and three grandchildren. Music was provided by Joyce Hardesty, organist. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Garnett Public Library. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements." Page 5, Column 3: "Ray A. Marmon 1920-2005 Funeral services for Ray A. Marmon, 84, Garnett, are Saturday, December 10, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel. Cremation will follow the services. Mr. Marmon died Friday, December 2, at Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett. Ray A. Marmon was born December 29, 1920, at Garnett, the son of Art Marmon. He was an oil producer. Ray fought in the Battle of the Bulge with the United States Army during World War II. Ray and Fern Hunt were married in Garnett. This marriage was blessed with two children. They later divorced. Fern preceded him in death on December 2, 1989. Ray married Juliette Kueser in Hawaii. She preceded him in death on February 24, 2005. Mr. Marmon was also preceded in death by his son, Raymond Marmon in 1969. Ray is survived by his son, Randy Marmon and his wife, Phyllis, of Topeka; his step- daughter, Vicki Montgomery and her husband, Doug, of Topeka; his brothers, John Marmon, his twin Roy Marmon, and Robert Marmon, all of Garnett; his sister, Edna Compton of Sterling, CO; his grandchildren, Crystal Corbat, Alexa Marmon, Sjanna Furtick, Jessica Tucker, Vanessa Hays, and Briana Hayes; and his great-grandchild, Chase Corbat. Recorded musical selections will be 'Going Home', 'Home', 'Detroit City', and 'It Ain't Over When It's Over'. The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Kansas.
