He had lived in our midst for almost twenty years. His life was an example of industry and absolute honesty. Just before he died a friend inquired if there were any business matters that he desired to look after and he answered " I am square with all men." Mr. Sayre had been sick just one week. He was 74 years of age. When he first came to Anderson county he rented the farm owned by Mayor McCartney, southwest of the city, where he lived for years. He was known throughout the county as one of our best farmers. It was a bad year indeed when Mr. Sayre did not have something to sell. He leaves a widow, a son, Earnest Sayre, now living in California, and six grown daughters, Miss Carrie Sayre of Colorado Springs, Mrs. Warren Metzger, Mrs. Elmer Judy, mrs. George McGee, Mrs. Will Galloway and Mrs. W. F. Radford. All the daughters are now here. It is not expected that the son will be able to get here. The funeral will be held at the home on East First street in this city Saturday at 2:30. ---------------------------------
