Lynn Morrison Thompson, clerk of the district court of Jackson county, is a native son of Kansas, born in Jackson county, December 27, 1886. He is a son of T. L. and Louie J. (Morrison) Thompson natives of Illinois. The father came to Kansas in 1880, and after a short sojourn in the State, returned to Illinois, where he was married, and shortly after came to Kansas, locating in Jackson county, where he has since been engaged in farming and stockraising. Lynn M. Thompson was educated in the district schools, and later graduated at the Soldier High School. He then entered Campbell College, which he attended one year, when he entered the employ of the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railway Company, and after remaining with that company for one year, returned home and followed farming with his father until 1908, when he engaged in teaching in Jackson county, and was thus employed, when he received the nomination for clerk of the district court in 1912. He was elected and still holds that office. Mr. Thompson was married October 12, 1910, to Miss Bertha Magers, a native of Doniphan county, Kansas, and a daughter of D. W. and Christine (Frederick) Magers. Mrs. Thompson was reared in Jackson county, and educated in the public schools, Campbell College, and the Kansas State Agricultural College at Manhattan, graduating from the latter institution. She is an accomplished musician, having specialized in music, both in Campbell College, and the State Agricultural college, and since graduating has taught music. To Mr. and Mrs. Thompson have been born one child, Dorothy Margaret, born July 12, 1911. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson are members of the Presbyterian church, and his fraternal affiliations are with the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, and the Knights of Pythias, and Mrs. Thompson holds membership in the Eastern Star. Mr. Thompson has been a member of Company B, Second Regiment, Kansas National Guard a number of years, and on April 3, 1913, was commissioned second lieutenant of that organization, and is now serving in that capacity.
