Obituary of HENRY ALVIN "AL" KARST
Henry Alvin "Al" Karst, 86, died Monday,
October 1, 2001, at St. Mary's Manor, Blue Springs, Missouri, following a short battle with melanoma.

He was born October 21, 1914, at Galatia, the son of George H. and Maria Schenkel Karst.

He worked as a meat cutter for Dillons Food Stores and as a custodian for the Hutchinson Public Schools.

On October 4, 1936, he married Elma Bisterfeldt at Milberger. She died November 1, 1982. In November 1983, he married Shirl Imel at Hutchinson. She died November 11, 1989.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and Moose Lodge.

Survivors include: a son, Ronald Karst, Blue Springs, Missouri; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 5, at 10 a.m. at Johnson and Sons Memorial Chapel, Hutchinson, with Rev. Thomas Mendenhall officiating.

Committal services will be at 2 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Galatia.

Memorials may be made to Odyssey Hospice of Kansas City, or St. Mary's Manor. Personal condolences may be left for the family at
