Obituary of JOE BURKETT NICHOLS
Obituary-Nichols

Joe Burkett Nichols was born at Platte County, Mo., July 27, 1870, and died at his home in Oskaloosa, Kans., Dec. 16, 1922, aged 52 years, 4 months and 16 days. He came to Oskaloosa in his early childhood with his parents. A few days before his death he confessed his faith in Christ. He was the son of Riley Nichols and wife. On Dec. 24, 1893, he was united in marriage to Miss Delia Anna Saulsberry, to which union were born 5 children, 3 sons and 2 daughters, four of whom died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his death, the wife, and one daughter, Mrs. W. H. Kirkpatrick, 3 grandchildren, all of the home address, 6 sisters, 2 brothers, 21 nieces and nephews, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Through all of his sickness he was a patient sufferer, working when he was not physically fit to do so. No one thought he was really as sick as he was. Friends saw him down town Thursday before his death on Saturday. He took worse Friday morning, never to get any permanent relief until the death angel came and took him for an everlasting rest.

A loving husband, father and brother will be greatly missed.

The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Glisipie of Kansas City, Kans., at the Baptist church. White friends of the family composing the choir were Mrs. W. D. Ratliff, Mrs. A. G. Smith, Mr. H. T. Phinney and Mrs. A. H. Leech, with Miss Addie Mains at the organ. The body was laid to rest in Pleasant View cemetery.

We wish to extend to our friends and relatives and neighbors our sincere thanks and appreciation for their kindness and sympath shown us during the illness and death of our dear husband brother and father.

Mrs. J. B. Nichols, Mrs. Chas. Porter, Mrs. John Foster, Mrs. Pearl Bradshaw, Mr. Albert Nichols, Mr. John Nichols, and Mrs. W. H. Kirkpatrick.
