Obituary of ALTA ROSA TRAXSON

A death which came as a shock to the Angola and Mound Valley communities was that of Miss Alta Rosa Traxson, 27 year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Will Traxson, who passed away late Saturday (Dec 29th, 1934) in the home of her parents, three miles west of Angola of bronchial pneumonia after an illness of only a few days.
Few of her hundreds of friends in this part of the county were aware that her illness was critical.
The Traxson family is highly regarded and well known, and the death of Alta takes from it one of the most popular members.
Miss Traxson was born July 23, 1907 on the same farm on which she died. She attended Angola grade school and later was a student in the Labette County Community High school at Altamont for one year, but withdrew because of ill health. She was prominent in Sunday school and church work at Angola, serving as faithful pianist for several years in the church.
She is survived by her parents; two brothers, Lovell Traxson of the home and Frank Traxson of Delaware, Okla, and five sisters, Mrs James Hart, Mrs Clarence Hart and Mrs Lyman White all of rural Liberty, Mrs Ivan Starr of Petrolia, Kan, and Mrs Joe Murray Jr. of Mound Valley.
Funeral services which were largely attended were held Monday afternoon in the Methodist church at Angola with Rev F.L. Page pastor of the Mound Valley-Angola-Edna Charge, preaching the sermon. Burial was in Richland Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Sperry Funeral Service of Mound Valley.
Pallbearers were Audrey Huston, Elaine Abshier, Grace Crown, Hazel Evitts, Mrs Floyd Mattocks and Bonita Starner. Flower girls were Barbara Lee Finley, Jane McCartney, Dorothy Hoppock, Maxine Hoppock, Eva Crown and Ruth Huston. The singers were Kenneth Gobble and Stalford Ruhlin of Altamont, Floyd Mattocks, Fern McCartney, Irene McCartney and Helen White.
