Obituary of HANNAH JANE (WINDBIGLER) KESSLER

Noble Woman Dead
In the death of Mrs. W.L. Kessler of this city the citizens of Altamont feel the loss of a true friend, a thoughtful neighbor, a loving wife and mother. While she has gone from the scenes, the conflicts, the sorrows and preasures of this life, she will still live in the hearts of those who knew her best. She was a woman of strong Christian character; patient, loving and self-sacrificing.
Hannah Jane Windbigler was born in Ohio, December 18,1848 and departed from this life last Thursday afternoon, June 8,1922 at 3 o'clock. She moved to Indiana with her parents in early childhood. She was united in marriage to William Lafayette Kessler on December 17,1865. They moved to Kansas in 1874, locating on a farm twelve miles south of Altamont where they resided until 1896 when they
moved to Altamont and they have remained here since.
To this union nine children were born, seven of whom are now living. They were all present at the bedside at the time of death. The children all reside in Labette county excepting Mrs. F.P. Moore of Newton and O.O. Kessler of Neodesha.
She united with the M.E. Church in early girlhood and remained a devoted Christian until her death. She leaves to mourn her death a loving husband; one brother, J.L. Windbigler of Mission, Tex., one sister, Mrs. C.A. Elrod of Wichita Kansas, and the following children: Mrs. C.E. Underhill of Altamont, Jerry and Harley of Altamont, Walter and Gust of Edna, Otis of Neodesha and Mrs. F.P. Moore of Newton. Twenty-one grandchildren and seventeen great grand children also survive as well as a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the M.E. church Saturday afternoon, June 10. The services were conducted by Rev. C. Arthur Hull. Burial was made in the Altamont cemetery.
