George Thomas, an early settler and one of the real pioneers of Phillips County, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs LeRoy Taylor, at McCook, Nebraska, Saturday, November 5, 1927. The deceased was born in Cornwell, England, and came to America with his parents when a small child, the family locating at Hazel Green, Wisconsin.

He was united in marriage to Mrs Emily Roberts in 1879 and soon after moved to Kansas, locating in Phillips county. To this union four children were born, G E Thomas, of Kalispell, Montana, A W Thomas, of Phillipsburg, Mrs LeRoy Taylor, of McCook, Nebraska, and Mrs Emma Hacker, of Colorado Springs. He is also survived by fifteen grand-children and many other relatives and a host of friends.

During the past few years Mr Thomas had made his home part of the time with his daughter, Mrs Taylor, at McCook, but because of his long residence in this city was intimately known to practically all Phillipsburg people, and all were his friends. He had won and held their friendship because of his universal kindness and courtesy to all, and because he was genuinely the friend of mankind everywhere.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in this city last Thursday afternoon, Nov 10, at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Hart. Burial was made in Fairview cemetery.God called him home, It was His will, But in our hearts, He lingers still.

Death took place November 5th at the home of his daughter Mrs L Taylor, where for eight years he has lived.
The character of the deceased was of a quiet and retiring nature winning the respect and esteem of those who knew him. Our sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones in this their hour of trial and sorrow. The labor of the day is ended and now he enters into that reward which awaits those who have been faithful unto the end.
