28 March 1953
Funeral Card of ELIZABETH NUSS
Elizabeth, oldest of thirteen children of Phillip and Magdelena Popp nee Boger was born October 10, 1894 in north Barton County, Kansas and departed this life on March 28, 1953 at Halstead, Kansas.

On November 4, 1894 she was consecrated to the Lord in Holy baptism by Rev. Signfred Thomas and on April 9, 1909 she renewed her baptismal vows by confirmation from Rev. Edmund Ferer at the Schoenfield Church. On March 7, 1915, she was united in holy wedlock to Emanuel Nuss. To this union five children were born, all of whom survive. After their marriage they established their home on a farm near the Barton County line south of Russell. Here she spent the remainder of her life. Her husband preceded her in death on July 26, 1948. She entered the Halstead Hospital on March 21 and underwent a major operation on Thursday, March 26. White this operation apparently was successful, complications developed early Saturday morning and at 9:30 that evening she answered the Master's call to come to My Father's Home of Many mansions. She reached the age of 58 years, 5 months and 18 days.

A kind and gracious mother and sister, a friendly neighbor and a devout member of her church, she will be sadly mourned by her four daughters and son: Mrs. Alvin Miller, Paradise; Mrs. Viola Podszus, Lincolnville; Mrs. Florence Mai, Mrs. Corrine Dutschmann, both of Great Bend; Wayne Nuss of the home. Her sisters, Mrs. Ida Ochs, Garden City, Mrs. Mathilda Kraft, Dodge City; Mrs. Pauline Maier, Ness City, Mrs. Rachel Nuss, Russell. Her brothers, Peter Popp, Otis, Solomon, Sigmund and Herman, of Hoisington, William, Galatia; Paul and Benjamin, Russell; and Emil of Gorham; also 15 grandchildren and many other close relatives and friends.
