Obituary of NILA VENA STEPONICK
Nila Vena Steponick, 99, died Thursday, Jan 13, (1994) in the Christopher Manor at Lucas.

She was born June 30, 1891, to Joseph T. and Liva Georgia Wolf Yokum at Princeton.

She lived northwest of Garnett on a farm with her first husband, Earl Johnson. She married ___ C. "Swede" Johnson, on July 10, 1939. He died in 1958. She married Carl Dumler on Nov. 28, 1959. He died in 1962. On Oct. 10, 1963, she married Alfred Steponick. He died in 1968.

She worked in a creamery owned by her father in Welda. She also worked as a switchboard operator at Welda and at a restaurant owned by Maggie Babcock in Welda.

She lived in Russell for a number of years before she moved to the nursing home in Lucas.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church at Russell.

She is survived by her brother, D. W. Yokum of Garnett; and by her stepchildren, Mike Steponick, Toni Bryant, Olga Reisig, Mae Blehm, Walter Dumler, Fern Shackleford, Helen Hunter, Marjorie Lee and Carol Doepke.

Her funeral was Monday Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. at the Farris Fiserborn Memorial Chapel at Garnett, with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Chanute.
