Mrs. Ora O. Hollenbeck, 74, died yesterday (Sept 4) at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Merle Freeborn, west of Muscotah, where she was taken from the Holton hospital last June 28 after an extended illness.



Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Muscotah Methodist church. The Rev. C.B. Dennison officiating. Burial will be in the Effingam cemetery. The body is at the Mercer Funeral Home at Holton.



Alice Pruitt was born in Atchison county, July 15, 1878, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Pruitt, and was married at Holton July 22, 1897, to Ora O. Hollenbeck, who survives with three daughters, Mrs. John Robertson (Althea), Valley Falls; Mrs. Virgil Scheid (Daisy), Muscotah; Mrs. Merle Freeborn (Fern), Muscotah; three sons, Russell, Green River, Wyo., and Ernest and Clarence, Muscotah; 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Reece, California; Mrs. Bert Sisco, Topeka, Mrs. Arthur Schurman, Effingham; two brothers, Claud Pruitt, El Monte, Calif., and James Pruitt, Florence, Kansas. A grandson, T-Sgt. Earl Scheid, is in the airforce at Honolulu .



Mrs. Hollenbeck's chief interest was her family and she received devoted care of her husband and children during her long and painful illness. Her death is the first in her family. Her optimistic cheerful manner made her a favorite with everyone who knew her and she retained her keen sense of humor to the end.

Ora Oren Hollenbeck, 82, died Tuesday at his home in Muscotah. He was a retired farmer.



He was born October 14, 1878, near Holton and lived in Holton and Muscotah communities most of his life.



Surviving are three sons, Ernest and Clarence Hollenbeck of Muscotah, and Russell Hollenbeck of Visalia , Calif. ; three daughters, Mrs. Althea Roberson of Valley Falls , Mrs. Daisy Scheid of Muscotah, and Mrs. Fern Freeborn of Whiting; and 21 grandchildren.



Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Muscotah Methodist Church .



Burial will be in the Effingham Cemetery . Mercer Funeral Home is in charge.

Ora Orren Hollenbeck, son of Henry and Sarah Hollenbeck, died Tuesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Virgil Scheid, at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 13 days.



On July 22, 1879 (1897) he married Miss Alice Pruitt of Holton, who died in September, 1952.



He leaves 3 daughters: Mrs. John Roberson of Valley Falls , Kansas , Mrs. Virgil Scheid of Muscotah, and Mrs. Merl Freeborn, Whiting; 3 sons, Ernest Hollenbeck, Muscotah, Russell Hollenbeck of Visalia, California, and Clarence Hollenbeck, Muscotah; 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren. He was the last of a family of six.



Funeral was at Muscotah Methodist church at 2:00 December 30.



Pall bearers were grandsons, Ralph Scheid, Johnnie Roberson, Lavern Hollenbeck, Dwayne Hollenbeck, Donald Hollenbeck and Darrell Freeborn.



Rev. C.B. Denison officiated.



Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Effingham
