Adolph Ahrens was born July 6, 1877, the son of Frederick and
     Hannah Ahrens. He married Ida Schroeder November 23, 1905 in Florence,
     Missouri. Ida was born October 28, 1888 and died November 30, 1918. 
     They were the parents of Webster, who lives in Colorado; Vera, was a 
     nurse in Kansas City; and Loretta, died in Goodland, Kansas, March 11,
     1939.
          They farmed northwest of Woodbine before purchasing the furniture
     and undertaking business from George Biegert. They later moved to his
     parents home in Woodbine. Adolph replaced his horse drawn hearse with
     a motorized vehicle and drove it past the high school. Lillian Longhofer,
     the daughter of Dave Longhofer, remarked to her friends that she " would
     be the first to ride in the new hearse". She was the first to be
     carried to the Woodbine Cemetery in it. Lillian died of a ruptured 
     appendix September 21, 1922.
          Adolph married Lillie Mary Garrett July 22, 1920. She cared for his
     three children. She was the daughter of Andrew and Rose Stites Garrett, 
     born September 5, 1876 in Clay County, Illinois. Her father died when
     she was three months old. She and her mother came to Woodbine in 1881. 
     Her mother married George Middleton. Lillie passed away May 19, 1930 and
     is buried at Woodbine.
          Adolph moved to Ruleton, in Sherman County, to farm in 1932. He
     married Mrs. Jesse Snowbarger in 1936. She died in 1953. Adolph passed
     away in Goodland October 2, 1965.
