Judge Charles H. Stewart

Judge Charles H. Stewart, 76, died April 10, 1985, at the Kingman Community Hospital after a short illness. Born April 1, 1909, at Topeka, he married Catherine B. Ryan, June 2, 1937, at Denver. She died Jan. 16, 1970. He then married Carolyn Edson August 16, 1974, at Littleton, Colo.

He was a graduate of Washburn University Law School, Topeka, and started a law practice in Wichita County. He later moved to Kingman, where he practiced law, and in 1962 he was elected 24th Judicial District Judge. He had also served as a Kingman County Attorney and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Navy.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Knight's of Columbus, both of Kingman.

Survivors include the wife of the home; daughter, Pamela Schmid, Glasgow, Mont.; sister, Mary Ann Chapman, Albuquerque, N. M.; and three grandchildren.

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at the church with Father Paul Oborny officiating. Burial was in the Walnut Hill Cemetery, Kingman. Memorials to the Kingman Community Hospital or the Kingman Library.
