Barber County Kansas

The Hazelton Herald, April 19, 1935.

Cyrus H. Stewart passed away Friday, April 12, 1935, in Compton, California, after a long illness. His death took another old timer from the rapidly thinning ranks of the early settlers of Barber County, and while Mr. Stewart spent the last few years of his life in California, his friends and neighbors still thought of him as just away from Hazelton on a visit.

He came to Barber County in the early days and went through the hardships that belonged exclusively to the Old West.

For years before going to California he lived on his farm home southwest of Hazelton, and was numbered among Hazelton's best citizens.

His body was brought back from California and funeral services were held at Anthony Thursday (today). Burial was in Rosehill Cemetery at Hazelton.
