Darlene (Spurling) Swonger

Darlene Swonger, age 88, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital.

She was born February 5, 1919 at Arcadia, Kansas, the daughter of Bill and Ida (Vail) Spurling. A resident of Sharon for over 60 years, most recently living in Medicine Lodge, she worked at Pennocks Nursing Home for 16+ years, and Attica Nursing Home, and worked at and later owned Marg’s Cafe in Sharon. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Sharon. On July 13, 1938, she married Lyle "Buck" Swonger at Greensburg, Kansas. He died September 22, 1970.

She is survived by a son Ron Swonger and Bert, Sharon; a sister Dauphine Davis, Medicine Lodge; a nephew Billy Davis, Medicine Lodge; 11 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, Bucky, Jack and Larry; a brother Billy Spurling, and a brother-in-law Howard Davis.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday March 31, 2007 at St. Boniface Church with Reverend John Strasser presiding.

Burial was in Highland Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the Children Memorial Park, Sharon, in care of the funeral home in Medicine Lodge.
