Don Robert Poland

Don Robert Poland, age 80, passed from this life into the next Saturday, January 26 at his home in Isabel. He was born April 12, 1927, the son of P. L. and Bessie (Hamm) Poland. He married Mary June Sleeper sixty-one years ago.

Don was a farmer, friend, and neighbor in Pratt and Barber Counties. He was a member of the Isabel Church of Christ serving as a teacher, a deacon and an elder. He served on the school board at Isabel, the Isabel Co-Op Board and the Federal Land Bank Board. He was honored in Barber County as a Soil Conservation Award winner in 1991.

His children are Dianne (Bill) Buggein, Augusta; Rita (Howard) Kendall, San Antonio, TX; Richard (Anita) Poland, Isabel; Greg (Janet) Poland, Edmond, OK; Brian (Tammy) Poland, Isabel; Kendall (Rhonda) Poland, Carmen, OK. These children blessed the family with 18 grandchildren and 16 great -grandchildren. Don has a brother Dr. Jack and Sue Poland who live in Fort Collins, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Gene Poland and a sister Geraldine Poland.

Services were held on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Isabel Church of Christ, led by sons-in-law Bill and Howard. Memorials may be sent to "In Search of the Lord’s Way," in Edmond, OK or Hospice Care of Kansas in care of the mortuary. Condolences may be left at www.larrisonmortuary.com.
