Eli Buckles Dead

Eli Buckles passed away at his home on Rt. 1 Tuesday February 7, at 8 p.m. at the age of 84 years. He was born in Russell County, Virginia, April 19, 1837. He came here in 1889 from Virginia. Mr. Buckles had been ailing for some time and became seriously ill a short time ago. The deceased was a friend to all and he will be greatly missed by the entire community.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon and interment was in Rose Hill cemetery in this city.

According to Confederate Burials in Kansas, Eli Buckles was a Private in Captain McFarlane's Virginia Cavalry, Confederate Army. He was born 19 April 1837 and died 7 February 1837.
