Staff Sgt. Elvin N. Cocherell

Isabel Soldier Missing In Action

Another Barber county young man is listed as missing in action in World War II. He is Staff Sgt. Elvin N. Cocherell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Craig E. Cocherell of Isabel. According to a message received by his parents from the adjutant generals office of the war department Saturday, the young soldier has been missing since the 16th of August.

The telegram stated that a letter giving more details would follow. However, Mr. and Mrs. Cocherell had not received the letter yet this afternoon. Sgt. Cocherell was reported missing over Lebourget, France, so there is a possibility that the young man is now a prisoner of the enemy.

Sgt. Cockerell is 34 years of age. H is a graduate of the Menlo high school and moved to the Isabel community several years ago with his parents where he was well and favorably known.

He left Isabel about three years ago from Tacoma, Wash., where he was employed by the Garman Furniture Company. He entered the service from Tacoma in March, 1942. He was a member of the air force of the United States army.
