Eula Zara (Angell) Jacobs

Eula Zara Angell Jacobs, 87, died on January 18, 2007 at Garden Valley Nursing Home. She was born September 6, 1919 to Will Angell and Sarah Lasswell Angell at what used to be Lasswell, Kansas. A resident of Garden City since 1954, Eula worked in most of the restaurants in Garden City as a waitress or cook. She came from Medicine Lodge with George and Edna Sherman to open a new restaurant, Sherman’s Grill. Before that she worked at Sherman’s Grill in Medicine Lodge and St. Catherine Hospital in Housekeeping for two years.

On April 29, 1939, she married Gilbert Hurshall Welch. She then married Bill Jacobs in 1947.

She graduated from high school in Medicine Lodge. Her hobbies were being with her grandkids and great grandkids, gardening and sewing.

Survivors include two daughters Marilyn Glaze and husband Vern, Cheryl Kells and husband Al, all of Garden City, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, her parents, one brother, two sisters, one daughter, one grandson and one great grandson.

Memorial services were held on Monday, January 22, 2007 at the Garden Valley Chaplin-Marion.

Graveside services were held in Medicine Lodge later that same day.

Condolences may be sent to Garnand Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Cancer research in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
